Folic acid must be converted (methylated) in the intestines and liver to the active form 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MeTHF), which is found in the blood and used by the tissues.

Dosage

Calcium L-methylfolate
The biologically active alternative to folate is called methylfolate (also 5-methyltetrahydrofolate or 5-MTHF), which occurs naturally in the human body and can be easily used by the body in this form.
5-MTHF bound to the calcium salt showed higher absorption and higher maximum plasma levels than folic acid in the conventional form. It contributes to the normal function of the immune system and is a suitable dietary supplement in pregnancy and during pregnancy planning.
L-5-MTHF-Ca is also required for the normal production of neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine, melatonin, adrenaline and noradrenaline. It also promotes a good mood and cardiovascular system.
