OregaWell contains five botanical oils in an olive oil base, enclosed in a small softgel capsule. Orega-Cinn drops contain a different blend: oregano extract and cinnamon oil with syrups and raspberry ingredients. It is an option for parents looking for a liquid supplement.

NAHS includes both products in one children’s bundle. However, one capsule cannot be converted into an equivalent number of drops, nor can the doses simply be added together. Ask a paediatrician or pharmacist about using the products together for your child and follow the current instructions for each product.

NAHS offers Kids-C Plus in the same bundle as OregaWell and Orega-Cinn. Kids-C Plus with camu camu is a separate vitamin C supplement with a different composition from OregaWell’s oil blend.

North American Herb & Spice develops and manufactures its own products, starting with the selection of raw materials for oregano P73. It uses a blend of selected wild oregano species, hand-harvested in the Turkish mountains. The oil is steam-distilled, with no synthetic carvacrol added afterwards. Naturally low thymol content is also part of the selection criteria.

Pravé Bio stocks several distinct forms of oregano oil:

• Oreganol P73 Original contains wild oregano P73 oil in extra virgin olive oil. The olive oil is already part of the product; use the drops according to the instructions for that particular version.
• Botanicals for Life oregano oil contains organic oil from Origanum vulgare, obtained by steam distillation and mixed with organic extra virgin olive oil. Both ingredients are organic. This is an oil blend, rather than a glycerine extract.
• Geusi Vounou oregano essential oil is an undiluted oregano essential oil with no added carrier oil, from a family brand based in Grevena, Greece. It is more concentrated than the same essential oil mixed with a carrier; follow its own directions for use.

Olive oil acts as a carrier and stabiliser for the botanical oils in NAHS products. Its presence does not in itself indicate lower quality. An undiluted essential oil and a finished blend differ in concentration, so their quantities and doses are not interchangeable.

OregaWell is a children’s blend of five oils in small softgel capsules. Its ingredients, form and age guidance differ from those of oregano oil alone.

OregaWell has its own children’s formulation in the Kid-e-Kare range. It contains oregano P73, cumin, sage, ginger and cinnamon oils in extra virgin olive oil.

The small softgel capsules can be swallowed whole or their contents mixed into food. Each capsule contains 140 mg of the complete blend, and the pack provides 60 daily doses.

P73 is NAHS’s proprietary blend of oils from selected wild oregano species. P refers to potency, purity and phenolic power; 73 refers to the average carvacrol content of the oregano oil itself, approximately 73%.

The oregano is hand-harvested in remote Turkish mountains and the oil is obtained by steam distillation. The name therefore relates to the ingredient’s origin, selected plant species and oil composition. In OregaWell, this oil is one part of a larger blend; 140 mg per capsule is not the quantity of oregano oil alone or of carvacrol.

NAHS also selects P73 for low thymol content, another naturally occurring phenolic constituent of oregano oil. Selection therefore considers the oil’s overall composition, rather than carvacrol percentage alone.

How should you read 60:1 versus 20:1? These are the figures in NAHS’s comparison of oil with dried oregano leaf. Sixty is three times twenty; that arithmetic does not establish three times the health effect. The comparison gives neither a defined mass-based calculation nor a batch-specific extraction yield. It cannot tell you how many grams of dried oregano correspond to a softgel, drop or gummy. Compare the declared oils and, where available, carvacrol amounts at each product’s recommended daily dose. OregaWell contains several oils. The 60:1 comparison does not describe the complete children’s formulation or justify changing its dose.

Not for children under 3. Check the current label and consult a paediatrician or pharmacist about suitability for an older child. Mixing the contents into food does not make the product suitable for younger children.

Gelatine forms a thin, strong yet flexible shell that holds liquid oil inside the capsule. It is obtained from animal collagen and used to make softgel capsule shells for fish oils, fat-soluble vitamins and herbal oil blends.

• A sealed oil filling. During manufacture, the capsule is shaped, filled with a measured quantity of the blend and sealed. This provides individual oil doses without counting drops.
• An oxygen barrier. The gelatine film limits oxygen transmission to the filling. This matters for oils because exposure to air contributes to oxidation and gradual deterioration. Suitable packaging and correct storage also help protect the contents.
• Less contact with the oil’s strong taste. When an intact capsule is swallowed, the oil is not released directly onto the tongue. This can make aromatic herbal oils easier to take for people who dislike their taste. Mixing the filling into food removes this particular advantage of the shell.
• Release after swallowing. A conventional softgel shell absorbs fluid and breaks down in the digestive environment, releasing the contents. Gelatine alone does not imply targeted release in the intestine or automatically better absorption.

OregaWell’s shell is made from bovine gelatine. It is therefore unsuitable for vegetarians and vegans. Only give a whole capsule to a child who can swallow it safely; the directions also allow its contents to be mixed into food.
