CaAKG stands for calcium alpha-ketoglutarate: the calcium salt of alpha-ketoglutaric acid. The name refers to the complete compound, rather than an equal amount of elemental calcium. L Cell adds zinc, with its amount declared separately.
Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and the protection of cells from oxidative stress. Those functions belong to zinc. They do not establish an AKG effect on ageing, or make the weight of CaAKG interchangeable with the amount of elemental calcium.
Take two capsules in the morning on an empty stomach, swallowed with water. The hypromellose (HPMC) shell contains no gelatine. The amount is already measured, with nothing to weigh or mix.

What do AKG and CaAKG stand for?
AKG means alpha-ketoglutarate; Ca refers to calcium. Together, they identify a particular salt. This is not a mixture of two separately added amounts that can be calculated freely from the name alone.
The CaAKG amount is different from the amount of elemental calcium. The compound weight includes its other components. Without a precise ingredient specification and separately substantiated mineral content, 800 mg of CaAKG on a label cannot be turned into a confirmed 160 mg calcium dose.
We therefore state the CaAKG amount shown in the photographed composition table. For the powder, that is 800 mg per two scoops; the capsules provide 700 mg per two capsules. Compare equivalent doses and check what each table actually measures.

What does the added zinc contribute?
- Zinc has its own authorised functions. It contributes to the maintenance of normal bones, hair, nails and skin, and the protection of cells from oxidative stress. These benefits cannot be transferred to alpha-ketoglutarate.
- The daily dose supplies 1.5 mg of zinc: 15% NRV. This refers to two scoops or two capsules. If you take other zinc-containing products, account for their contribution rather than automatically adding another dose.
- Calcium in an ingredient name does not establish the same mineral dose as a dedicated calcium supplement. If the mineral amount guides your choice, look for a product that separately substantiates that amount and its source.

We describe zinc’s authorised functions where their conditions are met. Those functions belong to zinc; they do not establish an AKG effect on lifespan or biological age. We also explain amounts, formats and directions to help you compare products.
What is CaAKG, and how is it different from AKG?
CaAKG is calcium alpha-ketoglutarate, a particular salt of alpha-ketoglutaric acid. Ca refers to calcium. It is not another name for elemental calcium, or a guarantee that all products labelled AKG have the same composition.
Read the complete ingredient name when comparing products. The acid alone, another salt and the calcium salt cannot be substituted simply because the same milligram figure appears on their labels.
Does 700 mg CaAKG mean 700 mg calcium?
No. It is the weight of the whole CaAKG compound. Calcium makes up only part of it. The capsule label states 700 mg CaAKG per two capsules, rather than a separately declared amount of elemental calcium.
When comparing mineral supplements, look for the declared calcium amount and its nutrient reference value percentage. These figures are different from the weight of CaAKG.
Do the powder and capsules provide the same amount?
No. Two scoops declare 800 mg of CaAKG; two capsules declare 700 mg. Both daily doses provide 1.5 mg of zinc. One capsule contains half the two-capsule CaAKG amount: 350 mg.

What does ingredient purity mean?
CaAKG purity describes how much of the ingredient is the specified compound. It is not an absorption percentage, an elemental calcium figure or proof of a health benefit. It does not automatically describe the whole blend including zinc.

Can I open the capsules and mix the contents?
The capsule directions are to swallow with water. Opening and mixing the contents is not part of the stated method.
