Pre-toasted Pontic Evreston pasta (Geusi Vounou, 500 g)
Geusi Vounou Evreston is traditional Pontic pasta made from flour, water and salt. It consists of short, irregular strips, some of which are curled. It is not a standard smooth noodle or a ready-made dish, but a regional pasta shape intended for brief cooking.
Evreston is a type of pre-toasted pasta associated with the Pontic culinary tradition. Pre-toasting gives it a yellow-brown colour, a lightly toasted wheat note and a short cooking time. Once cooked, the pasta is soft, while the irregular edges retain a varied texture.
It is traditionally served simply so that the flavour of the pasta remains noticeable. One documented preparation combines it with melted butter and garlic yoghurt. It can also be served as a sweet dish with sugar and cinnamon or as a side dish with sauce, vegetables or braised meat.
How to use
- Traditionally with butter and yoghurt – pour melted butter over the cooked pasta and serve with thick yoghurt mixed with garlic.
- As a sweet dish – combine the drained pasta with butter, then add sugar and ground cinnamon.
- With tomato or vegetable sauce – briefly toss with a sauce made from tomatoes, aubergine, onion or peppers.
- With meat or mushrooms – serve as a side dish with braised beef, lamb or chicken, or with a mushroom sauce.
Add the pasta to boiling salted water and cook for approximately 3–4 minutes. The short cooking time requires regular checking; drain it immediately once it reaches the preferred texture and combine with the chosen accompaniment.

We try to preserve them in their original form, as offered by Mother Nature, with as little processing as possible before packaging.
Today, we grow organic herbs and other aromatic plants with an emphasis on the purity of our products and the traditional way of preparing them.

The manufacturer of our company is Vassilis Karapas. He was born in 1994 in Grevena and studied agricultural development and farm business management at the Alexandria Institute of Technology in Thessaloniki.
He has been farming since his youth, coming from a farming family. It is currently engaged in the production, packaging and promotion of high quality agricultural products using innovative techniques.

Geusi Vounou aims to combine Greek tastes with new models of standardisation and quality control.
Once we have ensured the excellent quality of our products, we want to spread them to all corners of Europe and introduce the uniqueness that lies in this small country called Greece.
