What does hydrolysed collagen mean?
Hydrolysis breaks long protein chains into shorter peptides. The result differs from collagen’s original structure in fish tissue and from gelatine intended to set a dessert. Collagen type describes the starting protein; after hydrolysis, the ingredient is a mixture of smaller fragments.

- Unflavoured does not mean completely tasteless. L Cell describes a neutral taste. If you prefer, choose another cold drink instead of water; this is not a description based on our own tasting.
What does the formula contain?
Fish collagen peptides
- An animal-derived protein ingredient. Made from fish scales and hydrolysed into shorter chains.
- Types I, II and III describe the starting collagen. They do not establish three separate targeted effects of the finished powder.
- Fish origin matters for allergies. Hydrolysis does not justify describing this product as allergen-free.
Why does the formula contain zinc?
- Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal skin, hair and nails.
- Contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress and to normal immune system function.
- These are zinc’s own functions. Its inclusion does not establish that it enhances collagen’s effects.
Vitamin D3 in the formula
- Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and muscle function and to normal absorption and utilisation of calcium and phosphorus. A daily dose provides 0.75 µg vitamin D3, or 15% NRV.
15% NRV describes the amount relative to a nutrient reference value. It is not the proportion absorbed or a personal prescription. When combining supplements, consider their total zinc and vitamin D content.
Storage
- Keep in a cool, dry, dark place, out of the reach of young children. Close the pack carefully after use and use a dry spoon. The batch number and best-before date are printed on your pack.

Do collagen studies mean this supplement will smooth wrinkles or help joints?
They do not automatically authorise those promises. Studies differ in their ingredients, peptide sizes, doses, duration and measurements. Findings for one formula cannot simply be applied to every collagen. Here, benefits relating to skin, bones and other functions are attributed to the authorised claims for zinc and vitamin D, rather than to collagen peptides themselves.
How are collagen peptides different from gelatine?
Processing and protein-chain size differ. Hydrolysed collagen is broken down further into smaller peptides, whereas gelatine is also used for its ability to form a gel. This supplement therefore does not replace an equal quantity of gelatine in a jelly recipe. How a powder dissolves or behaves in a drink is not a measurement of its health effects.
Is 10,000 mg the same as 10 g, and how many teaspoons do I need?
Yes: 10,000 mg is exactly 10 g. This is the daily collagen-peptide amount on the label. The pouch’s rear label specifies four teaspoons, but household teaspoons are not a standard size and volume is different from weight. Weighing can improve accuracy. Do not borrow a scoop count from another powder or confuse teaspoons with tablespoons.
Can I add the powder to hot coffee or tea?
Follow L Cell’s cold or room-temperature liquid instructions for this formula. Collagen peptides alone and a finished supplement with zinc and vitamin D3 are different mixtures. A general recipe for pure collagen is not a reason to change this product’s directions. Let coffee or tea cool first and finish the full measured dose.
Is hydrolysed collagen suitable for someone with a fish allergy?
No. It contains a fish-derived ingredient, and fish is an allergen. Breaking down a protein does not justify assuming it is safe for someone with an allergy. The words marine, pure and hydrolysed do not remove its origin. Choose alternatives by their own ingredients and allergens. For a serious allergy, discuss selection with an allergy specialist rather than testing a small dose at home.
Is marine collagen vegetarian or vegan?
No: this collagen comes from fish scales. It remains animal-derived even when unflavoured or without a strong fish aroma. A plant-based “collagen booster” usually describes a different formula, rather than the same fish peptides made from plants. Compare the ingredient lists rather than assuming similarly named products contain equivalent ingredients.
Does up to 2,000 daltons mean complete absorption?
No. Daltons measure molecular mass, not absorption percentage. L Cell’s figure characterises peptide size in the ingredient. It does not tell you what fraction of a dose reaches a particular tissue or becomes collagen in a specific place. When reading research, check what was actually measured: molecular size alone is not a clinical outcome.
What do types I, II and III mean after hydrolysis?
They identify the starting collagen rather than three separate effects. L Cell uses these designations for its fish ingredient. Hydrolysis breaks the original structure into peptides; this is different from intact or undenatured type II collagen. Results from research on such a different ingredient cannot automatically be applied to this hydrolysed powder.
Do I need to add vitamin C or another collagen?
This product’s directions do not require another supplement. Vitamin C has its own authorised normal collagen-formation claim, but it is not listed in this formula. A varied diet is different from needing to buy another product. If combining supplements, check overlapping zinc and vitamin D and do not convert different collagen doses by teaspoon count.
What exactly do the attached laboratory reports test?
One tests heavy metals; the other covers microbiological parameters. Report M854, dated 16 October 2024, measures lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic in collagen hydrolysate sample batch LBC240228. The file labelled “mycotoxins” contains microbiological tests for the same batch, sample number 7, including microorganism counts and Salmonella testing. These documents do not assay peptide size, individual collagen types, zinc or vitamin D content. They apply to the stated sample and do not by themselves establish a connection to every pack currently sold.
