BREAKFAST WITH TURTLE
Banana yoghurt pot with chocolate oat clusters
A no-cook breakfast for one. Add the cereal just before eating so it stays crisp in the yoghurt.
Ingredients
- 30–40 g Turtle Oat Crunchy Dark Chocolate
- 150 g plain yoghurt or an unsweetened plant-based alternative
- 1 small banana
- Optional: a few dark chocolate shavings
Method
- Peel and slice the banana. Place a few slices in the bottom of a glass.
- Add half the yoghurt, some cereal and another layer of banana.
- Spoon over the remaining yoghurt and finish with the rest of the clusters. Add chocolate shavings if you like.
- Serve straight away. To prepare ahead, refrigerate the yoghurt and fruit, keeping the cereal separate until serving.
With yoghurt, milk or warm porridge
The clusters are baked and ready to eat. They need no cooking or soaking. Milk and yoghurt gradually soften them, so add them at the last moment if you prefer a crisp texture.
- With plain yoghurt: finish with banana, pear or berries. An unsweetened base lets the chocolate flavour come through.
- With milk: pour it over at the table. A smaller amount leaves some clusters crisp.
- With a plant-based drink: choose an unsweetened option. Check its gluten-free suitability if required. For a thicker coconut base, try Ceylon Kokonati coconut milk with 90% coconut flesh, thinned with water to taste.
- Over porridge: scatter on top after cooking. There is no need to cook the muesli with the oats.
- In a layered dessert: combine with yoghurt and fruit, reserving some clusters for the top. Those inside the chilled dessert will soften.
Check the ingredients you add, too. Use plant-based yoghurt or milk for a vegan breakfast. Check every ingredient when catering for an allergy: the vegan recipe may still contain traces of milk or egg. Seal the bag after opening and store in a dry place.

Laurence and Thilo: breakfast, inspired by family life
- Laurence is Belgian and grew up in Spain and Denmark; Thilo is German. They met in Belgium, where they later founded Turtle. Their different experiences of food helped shape a business devoted to breakfast.
- Porridge came first, with more recipes following over time. Organic ingredients remained central to both the plain grain staples and the more playful cereals. The name Turtle comes from the fable of the tortoise and the hare.
- A family project has grown into a team developing a wider choice of breakfasts. The first porridge went on sale in 2015, granolas followed in 2020 and a new cereal range arrived in 2021. Laurence and Thilo continue to work on the business together.
