250 mg trans-resveratrol, sourced from Japanese knotweed
Resveratrol is a plant polyphenol. This formula uses its trans form, sourced from Japanese knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum) rather than grapes. Each capsule contains 250 mg. The raw material is micronised to reduce particle size.
Micronised and liposomal: what each term means
Micronisation reduces the size of resveratrol particles. Liposomal technology involves structures formed from phospholipids. Purovitalis includes sunflower lecithin and MCT, but an ingredient list cannot confirm the presence of intact liposomes in the finished capsules, or establish better absorption.
Made in the Netherlands. Independently analysed.
Dutch company Borealis Pharma B.V. operates behind the Purovitalis brand. According to the brand, the capsules are manufactured at CureSupport Nederland B.V., an FSSC 22000-certified site audited by Kiwa. Independent testing is carried out by Arotop / Limbach Analytics in Mainz, Germany.
Purovitalis publishes selected resveratrol batch reports, including tests for heavy metals and pesticide residues. Each report relates to the batch and tests it identifies, not every bottle on sale.
What's in a daily capsule?
| Ingredient | Per capsule |
|---|---|
| Trans-resveratrol | 250 mg (NRV not established) |
Ingredients
Resveratrol (Japanese knotweed extract), capsule shell: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), medium-chain triglycerides (MCT), sunflower lecithin, gum arabic, magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide.
How to take resveratrol
Take one capsule with breakfast, with water. Choose 30 or 60 capsules for a 30- or 60-day supply. Store somewhere cool, dry and dark, away from direct sunlight and heat.
Purovitalis or L Cell? Compare the formulas
Purovitalis pairs trans-resveratrol with sunflower lecithin and MCT. L Cell Resveratrol Capsules take a different approach, adding vitamin B1, vitamin D and zinc. Prefer a drink? L Cell Resveratrol Powder offers a powder format instead of a ready-measured capsule.
Also exploring Purovitalis Spermidine? Spermidine is a polyamine, not a polyphenol. Its formula contains 5 mg spermidine plus six nutrients. Different ingredient, different formulation.
Resveratrol: your questions answered
What exactly is trans-resveratrol?
Trans refers to one of resveratrol's two spatial forms. Resveratrol occurs naturally in grape skins, some berries and peanuts. This capsule uses an extract from Japanese knotweed, not grapes.
What does the research say about resveratrol benefits?
Researchers are investigating resveratrol in relation to metabolism and cellular processes. Much of the mechanistic evidence comes from laboratory and animal studies. Clinical benefits such as slowing ageing or treating disease have not been established for this supplement.
Does liposomal resveratrol absorb better?
Not necessarily. That claim would require suitable studies of this finished product; the presence of lecithin and the term “liposomal” are not enough.
Is 250 mg a standard resveratrol dose?
It is this product's recommended daily dose, not a universally established intake. Seek medical advice if taking medicines, particularly those affecting blood clotting. The manufacturer advises against use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Before taking resveratrol
Food supplement. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet. Keep out of reach of children. Not intended for children. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult a healthcare professional if taking medication.
