What sets Purovitalis Spermidine apart

Each Purovitalis capsule contains 5 mg of spermidine, with vitamins B1, B6 and B12, folate, vitamin D3 and zinc.

What do the vitamin forms mean? Pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P-5-P) is a coenzyme form of vitamin B6, used in enzyme reactions including amino-acid metabolism. Methylcobalamin is one of the metabolically active forms of vitamin B12 and participates in converting homocysteine into methionine. Vitamin D3 means cholecalciferol, which the body converts into active vitamin D. These names explain the ingredients; they do not prove better absorption or greater effectiveness of the finished supplement.

For a separate B-complex with P-5-P, methylcobalamin and Quatrefolic® folate, compare the ingredients in Jigsaw Health's sustained-release B-complex. It contains 25 mg of vitamin B6 per tablet, above EFSA's tolerable upper intake level of 12 mg a day for adults. Seek medical or pharmacist advice before taking it alongside this supplement.

Vitamins B1, B6 and B12 contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism. Folate, vitamin D and zinc play a role in cell division. These are authorised claims for the named nutrients, not proven effects of spermidine itself. The amounts are worth checking alongside anything else you take: one capsule contains 50 µg of B12 and 25 µg of D3.

How to choose: Purovitalis or L Cell spermidine?

Purovitalis supplies 5 mg spermidine in one capsule, alongside vitamins B1, B6, B12, folate, D3 and zinc. L Cell Spermidine Capsules declare 3 mg per capsule, or 6 mg in the recommended two-capsule daily dose. Their ingredient profile is different, including wheat-germ extract, vitamin B1 and zinc.

Prefer not to take capsules? L Cell Spermidine Powder declares 6 mg per daily dose, with a different formulation intended to mix into a drink. A higher labelled amount does not, by itself, establish better clinical results.

Liposomal spermidine: what the formula tells you

Purovitalis calls this a liposomal spermidine formula and includes sunflower lecithin, a source of phospholipids. Liposomes are tiny structures enclosed by a phospholipid bilayer. Lecithin on an ingredient list, however, does not establish the size or integrity of liposomes in the finished capsules, or prove improved absorption.

Those characteristics require testing of the finished formulation. This scientific review of liposome technology sets out the general methods; it does not test Purovitalis.

Dutch manufacturing and independently tested batches

Formulation and encapsulation take place at CureSupport in the Netherlands. According to Purovitalis’ quality information, the site holds FSSC 22000 certification and is audited by Kiwa. The brand also uses independent analysis at Arotop / Limbach Analytics in Mainz, Germany.

Purovitalis publishes laboratory reports, including a report for a spermidine batch from 2023. That report does not establish the test results for the batch currently sold.

Directions and storage

Take one capsule daily, preferably in the morning on an empty stomach, with water. Store in a cool, dry place and follow the instructions on your bottle.

What is spermidine, and where is it found?

Spermidine is a polyamine found naturally in human cells and foods such as wheat germ, soya beans and mushrooms.

What does spermidine do, and do supplements work?

Spermidine is being researched in relation to autophagy, the process by which cells break down and recycle some of their components. Laboratory findings are not proof of clinical benefits from a supplement. In a 12-month trial of 100 older adults, a different product delivering 0.9 mg spermidine daily did not significantly improve the primary memory outcome compared with placebo.

How much spermidine should I take each day?

Purovitalis recommends one 5 mg capsule daily, giving 30 daily servings per bottle. There is no established nutrient reference value or universal recommended daily intake for spermidine.

Is spermidine safe to take?
