We stock H2Orega for its wild P73 oregano and its water-miscible format. NAHS sources the oregano from hand-gathered wild plants in the Mediterranean mountains, particularly Turkey. The blend uses selected edible oregano species with a naturally high carvacrol content and a low proportion of thymol.
Steam distillation produces the essential oil; micellisation prepares it for dispersion in water. This second stage distinguishes H2Orega from P73 drops with an olive-oil carrier. The ingredient, the way the finished formulation is prepared and the declared daily dose all matter when choosing between them.

Micellisation: preparing oregano oil for water dispersion
Micellisation changes how an oily ingredient disperses in an aqueous formulation. Micelles are aggregates of amphiphilic molecules, which have both water-attracting and oil-attracting regions. Their hydrophilic regions face the surrounding water, while their lipophilic regions can accommodate an oily ingredient within the structure.
The distinction is physical organisation. The oregano essential oil can disperse in water through micelles; “water-miscible” does not mean that the essential oil has become a different chemical substance. Distilling the aromatic oil and preparing its micellised format are separate stages.
For H2Orega, the result is a daily dose that can be mixed into a drink. P73 drops with an olive-oil carrier retain a different formulation structure. Each format has its own directions and composition; micellisation is not a measure of carvacrol concentration.
P73 oregano: wild sourcing and steam distillation
P73 is NAHS’s own blend of oils from selected edible wild oregano species. NAHS selects species with a naturally high carvacrol content with low thymol. It does not increase individual constituents through genetic modification or the addition of synthetic carvacrol.
Steam distillation collects the plant’s volatile aromatic fraction. Steam carries volatile constituents from the plant material; cooling allows the essential oil to be collected. This differs from pressing seeds for their fixed oil or extracting the whole herb with a solvent.
- Wild Mediterranean provenance: P73 oregano is hand-gathered, particularly in Turkey’s mountain regions.
- A naturally occurring aromatic profile: carvacrol remains one constituent of the botanical oil, rather than an isolated single ingredient.
- A further stage for H2Orega: the oil is supplied in a micellised formulation. The 100 mg daily-dose figure belongs to the declared finished blend.
Choosing a P73 formulation
Original Strength and Super Strength use an olive-oil carrier; H2Orega is micellised and water-miscible. All belong to the P73 family, with differences in formulation and recommended dose.
The original oil formulation is available as Oreganol P73 Original Strength drops. The Oreganol P73 Super Strength drops formulation has a higher proportion of oregano oil to olive oil. For an enclosed oil filling that limits direct contact with the mouth when swallowed whole, compare Oreganol P73 Original Strength capsules.
Choose H2Orega for a dose prepared in liquid. Its five-drop dose contains 100 mg of the declared micellised blend. That figure cannot be compared directly with the weight of oregano essential oil before a carrier is added.
Understanding P73
- P73 is NAHS’s designation for its own oregano blend. P refers to potency, purity and phenolic power: the terms the brand uses for its ingredient-selection criteria.
- 73 refers to the approximate average carvacrol content of the oregano oil itself. Natural levels vary between harvests; it is not a 73% carvacrol concentration in the finished H2Orega formulation.
What is in the five-drop dose?
- The label declares 100 mg of the micellised blend per daily dose. Separate weights of oregano essential oil and carvacrol are not given.
- Calculating carvacrol per dose would also require the oregano-oil proportion in the finished blend. The P73 designation does not supply that figure.
Naturally occurring carvacrol
- Carvacrol is one aromatic constituent of oregano essential oil. Species selection and harvest influence its proportion. Ingredient origin and extraction method therefore belong alongside a percentage when assessing an oil.
- NAHS does not increase carvacrol by adding a synthetic isolate. The percentage of one constituent does not describe the whole oil or its amount in a finished daily dose.

Judy K. Gray, M.S.: founder of NAHS
- Education & early career. Judy studied education at the University of Central Missouri, earning her bachelor’s degree in 1967 & master’s in 1968. Her early career was in education & marketing.

How is H2Orega different from ordinary oregano oil drops?
The micellised format mixes with water. Oil drops such as Oreganol P73 Super Strength drops use an olive-oil carrier. Processing, preparation and dose differ. If taste or swallowing capsules affects your choice, H2Orega lets you take the daily dose in a drink.
Does micellised mean liposomal?
No. Micellisation forms micelles that allow an oily ingredient to disperse in water. Liposomes have a different structure. H2Orega is not declared liposomal, and water miscibility alone does not establish greater absorption.
How much should I take, and what can I add it to?
Take 5 drops daily in water, fruit juice, milk or honey, in a quantity you will consume in full. Do not increase the dose according to taste or convert it from another oregano product.
What does it taste like, and how do we prepare it?
We find the diluted drops lightly herbal and spicy. Our preference is lukewarm water with a spoonful of honey; a smaller amount of liquid gives a more pronounced aroma. Explore our honey and bee products to choose the flavour you prefer.
Does the 100 mg dose mean 100 mg of oregano oil or carvacrol?
The label declares 100 mg of the micellised blend in five drops. It does not state separate amounts of oregano oil or carvacrol, so neither can be assigned the full weight of the blend.
What does P73 mean?
P73 is NAHS’s name for its blend of selected edible wild oregano species. The number refers to an approximate average carvacrol content in the oregano oil before preparation of the finished formulation. It is not the carvacrol concentration in H2Orega or a percentage of micellisation.
How many doses are in the 30 ml bottle?
The label declares 173 doses of five drops. At one dose daily, the bottle provides 173 daily doses. This does not alter the recommended daily dose. If you plan extended use and have a medical condition, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
When might oil drops or capsules suit me better?
For oregano oil with an olive-oil carrier, compare Oreganol P73 Super Strength drops. If you prefer to avoid direct contact between the oil and your mouth, consider Oreganol P73 Original Strength capsules. H2Orega is the option for mixing a dose into a drink. These are alternative formats, rather than a recommendation to take them together.
Can children take H2Orega?
Ask a paediatrician or pharmacist about suitability and an individual dose before giving it to a child. The public directions do not provide doses by age or body weight. A milder taste after dilution does not establish an appropriate minimum age.
Can I take H2Orega while pregnant or breastfeeding?
