Why is Oreganol P73 Super Strength Pravé Bio

We select oregano oil for its origin and processing as well as its carvacrol content. North American Herb & Spice uses selected wild Mediterranean oregano species in its P73 oil blend. Super Strength has a higher proportion of oregano oil to olive oil than Original Strength.

The oregano is picked by hand in Mediterranean mountain regions, particularly Turkey. Plant species, growing conditions and harvest timing influence the essential oil’s aromatic composition. NAHS works with local harvesters, obtains the oregano oil by steam distillation and blends it with organic extra virgin olive oil.

The wholefood approach retains the essential oil’s naturally occurring aromatic compounds together. Carvacrol occurs alongside constituents including thymol. NAHS does not increase carvacrol levels by adding a synthetic compound. Distillation separates the volatile fraction of the herb; it does not retain every constituent of the whole plant.

P73, carvacrol and the olive oil carrier

  • P73 is NAHS’s own name for its oregano oil blend. It is neither a single botanical species nor an independent quality certification.
  • Carvacrol and thymol occur naturally in oregano essential oil. NAHS selects species with naturally high carvacrol and lower thymol levels. A low thymol content alone does not establish safety or greater efficacy.
  • Extra virgin olive oil carries the concentrated oregano essential oil. These finished drops therefore differ from undiluted essential oils sold for other purposes, such as fragrance.

Why do we not list health benefits here? Health claims for food supplements are subject to EU rules. Research on oregano or carvacrol does not, by itself, establish the same benefits for these drops at their daily dose. Our FAQs explain the distinction.

Steam distillation and oregano’s aromatic compounds

NAHS extracts oregano essential oil by steam distillation. Steam releases volatile compounds from the plant material. Cooling condenses the vapour, allowing the essential oil to separate from the water. Its composition differs from dried oregano leaf and from a herb infused in oil.

NAHS does not extract its oregano using hexane or butane. The oil retains a naturally occurring mixture of aromatic constituents, rather than consisting of isolated carvacrol added to olive oil.

Distillation conditions also affect the oil’s composition. A 2023 study of Greek oregano examined how time, pressure and temperature influence oil yield and volatile constituents. The study examines processing rather than Oreganol’s health effects or its specific manufacturing methods.

Checking essential oil composition and authenticity
  • Gas chromatography separates individual aromatic constituents. The wider chemical profile provides information beyond a single carvacrol percentage. Calculating carvacrol in a finished dose also requires the proportion of oregano oil in the blend.
  • Isotope analysis can help distinguish natural aromatic compounds from synthetic material. A 2006 analytical study examined carvacrol, thymol and other essential oil constituents. It is not a certificate for a specific NAHS batch or evidence of a health benefit.

Two oils with a pronounced herbal taste

Oregano essential oil has an intense herbal aroma and taste. Super Strength has a pronounced herbal taste, even with olive oil as the carrier.

The formula contains oregano oil and olive oil. There is no alcohol, sweetener or added flavouring. Oil does not dissolve in water; stirring it into a drink does not create a stable emulsion.

  • Follow the two-drop daily dose for Super Strength. They are different from undiluted oregano essential oil.
  • If the herbal taste does not suit you, compare Super Strength softgels. Capsules have their own ingredients and daily dose; do not estimate a capsule dose from the number of drops.
Oreganol P73 Super Strength and its oil ingredients
North American Herb & Spice supplements in different forms

Original Strength, Super Strength, OregaUltra and H2Orega

Original Strength and Super Strength contain P73 oregano oil in olive oil, in different proportions. Both 30 ml labels declare 50 mg of the complete blend per two drops. Super Strength has a higher oregano-to-olive-oil proportion, so the 50 mg blend weight alone does not show the difference in concentration. Oreganol P73 Original Strength is the standard oil formula; Super Strength contains a greater proportion of oregano oil.

OregaUltra differs in its oregano ingredient and the other oils in the blend. It uses oregano oil with a declared 84% carvacrol content, blended with organic extra virgin olive oil and black seed oil. Two drops contain 50 mg of all three oils together. The 84% figure describes the oregano oil before blending, rather than the contents of the whole bottle or daily dose.

H2Orega is a water-miscible, micellised form of P73. Micellisation allows the oil constituents to disperse in water, so the drops can be mixed into a drink. Its recommended five-drop dose contains 100 mg of the micellised blend. Choose it when you want oregano that mixes with water or juice; Original Strength, Super Strength and OregaUltra are oil blends. Drop counts and different blend weights do not establish equivalent oregano doses.

What does P73 mean?
  • P stands for potency, purity and phenolic power. This explains NAHS’s product designation; it is not a separate certification.
  • 73 refers to an average of approximately 73% carvacrol in the oregano oil itself. Natural levels vary between harvests. It does not mean that the finished drops contain 73% carvacrol or that every batch has an identical percentage.
Why 50 mg does not mean 50 mg of oregano oil
  • The 30 ml label declares 50 mg of the whole oil blend per two drops. That weight includes the olive oil carrier.
  • The separate oregano oil and carvacrol amounts are not stated. Multiplying 50 mg by 0.73 therefore does not give the carvacrol content.
Understanding the 60:1 comparison
  • NAHS uses 60:1 when comparing oregano oil with dried oregano leaf. This is not the oregano-to-olive-oil ratio or a carvacrol percentage.
  • No method is published for calculating the equivalent weight of dried herb. We therefore do not use this ratio to calculate grams of dried herb or a multiple of health effects.
A higher oregano proportion is not a measure of health effects
  • Super Strength identifies a different ingredient ratio from Original Strength. It does not mean a higher recommended daily dose or a clinically established increase in effectiveness.
  • A single constituent’s percentage is insufficient to compare finished supplements. The full formula, amount per daily dose and directions all need to be considered.

Ingredients and label information

Amount per daily dose – 30 ml label2 drops
Wild oregano oil P73 and organic extra virgin olive oil blend50 mg

Ingredients: wild Mediterranean oregano oil P73, organic extra virgin olive oil. The 50 mg declaration covers both oils together. Their ratio and the carvacrol amount per daily dose are not stated. There is no established Nutrient Reference Value for this oil blend.

How to Use

Take 2 drops daily. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Follow the directions on your bottle.

Do not adjust the dose according to taste intensity. A higher oregano proportion is not a reason to take more drops or add other oregano products.

Bottle sizes and dose count

BottleDaily doseDose count
30 ml2 drops432, as declared on the label

The dose count applies to the 30 ml bottle; it is not a recommendation to take the drops continuously for that length of time. For other bottle sizes, follow their own packaging information. Observe the best-before date.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Close the bottle after use and keep out of reach of young children.

Technical research on processing and ingredient analysis

These are processing and analytical studies, rather than clinical evaluations of the finished drops. They explain ingredient processing and authentication; they do not establish Oreganol’s health effects or report tests on a specific NAHS batch.

North American Herb & Spice: formulation, expertise & in-house manufacturing

North American Herb & SpiceFrom ingredient to finished supplement

NAHS develops and manufactures its own supplements. Founder Judy K. Gray remains personally involved in sourcing and formulation, working with the brand’s development, manufacturing and quality-control teams.

Oregano was just the beginning

The range began with Oreganol P73. Judy K. Gray has since developed more than 400 formulas for NAHS and its sister brand, Physician’s Strength, which has a separate range for healthcare practitioners.

The wholefood approach

NAHS aims to retain naturally occurring compounds together. For pressed oils, that means considering the seed’s accompanying compounds as well as its fatty acids; for oregano, the essential oil’s wider aromatic profile. The plant and the part used determine how it is processed.

Beyond oregano

Black seed, turmeric, chaga and wild berries sit alongside fish oils in the range. They appear in capsules, drops, powders and drink blends, each with its own ingredients and directions.

Long-standing relationships at source

NAHS works with established local partners and harvesters. Its wild oregano is picked by hand in the Turkish mountains; other ingredients come from regions including Peru and northern Canada. Knowledge of local plants, harvests and growing conditions informs both ingredient selection and processing.

More than a buying relationship

NAHS has helped fund wells, schools and community facilities. Its Strong Community Causes programme also supports selected projects nominated by customers.

In-house research & development

The development team selects the ingredients, extracts and any carriers for each formula. It also determines the final format, from liquid oils to capsules and powders.

Made in Lake Forest, Illinois

NAHS has its own manufacturing facilities in Lake Forest, near Chicago. Liquid products are bottled on site under the supervision of the quality-control team.

Checks at both ends of production

Incoming ingredients and finished products are tested for identity, levels of selected constituents and unwanted impurities. Quality control continues beyond receipt of the raw material.

Processing to suit the ingredient

Cold pressing, steam distillation, CO₂ extraction, juicing and milling serve different purposes. Seeds yield pressed oils, while distillation can separate essential oils from aromatic herbs.

Knowing the source

Long-standing partners and local harvesters connect NAHS with the places its ingredients come from. Both the plant species and its growing environment inform the choice of raw material.

GMP & facility certifications

Manufacturing follows GMP principles. The facility holds organic, Kosher and Halal certifications; these do not automatically apply to every individual product.

Frequently asked questions

How does Super Strength differ from Original Strength, and what does “285% stronger” mean?

The difference is the oregano-to-olive-oil ratio, rather than the total blend weight. The 30 ml labels for Original Strength and Super Strength both declare 50 mg of the whole blend per two drops. Super Strength contains a higher proportion of oregano within that blend.

“285% stronger” refers to the higher oregano-to-olive-oil proportion. It is not a carvacrol percentage or evidence of a proportionally greater health effect. The exact oil ratio and separate carvacrol amount per daily dose are not disclosed.

The recommended daily dose of Super Strength remains two drops. The strength designation is not a reason to increase it, and the carvacrol amount cannot be calculated as 73% of the whole blend.

Does P73 mean these drops contain 73% carvacrol?

No. P73 is North American Herb & Spice’s own designation for its oregano oil blend. P refers to potency, purity and phenolic power; 73 refers to an average of approximately 73% carvacrol in the oregano oil ingredient. It is not the name of one botanical species.

The finished drops also contain olive oil, so the percentage does not describe the whole formula. Natural carvacrol levels can vary between harvests. The label does not state the carvacrol amount in the daily dose.

How much oregano oil is in two drops?

The 30 ml label declares 50 mg of the combined oil blend per two drops. This includes oregano oil and olive oil. The separate oregano amount and exact ingredient ratio are not stated.

It is therefore incorrect to describe this as 50 mg of pure oregano oil or carvacrol. Nor can the carvacrol amount be calculated as 73% of the entire blend. This declaration applies to the 30 ml bottle.

Does 60:1 mean sixty times the effect?

No. NAHS uses this comparison for oregano oil relative to dried oregano leaf. It is neither a measure of health effects, an oregano-to-olive-oil ratio nor a statement of carvacrol content.

Distillation separates volatile aromatic compounds, whereas dried leaf also contains non-volatile material. Without a published mass-based calculation method, the comparison cannot be converted into grams of herb per drop.

Why do the drops contain olive oil?

Organic extra virgin olive oil carries the concentrated oregano essential oil. It is part of the finished formula and is included in the declared blend weight. This is different from an alcohol tincture or dried herb steeped in oil.

Oreganol is a finished food supplement with product-specific directions. Those directions do not apply to a bottle of undiluted oregano essential oil.

Are these alcohol-free oregano drops? What do they taste like?

Yes. The two-oil formula contains no alcohol, sweeteners or added flavourings. It has a pronounced herbal, aromatic taste. Olive oil does not remove oregano’s flavour.

Aroma and taste can vary naturally; they are not a reliable home test of carvacrol content or a reason to change the dose. If the taste does not suit you, compare capsules using their own label information.

What is the recommended daily dose?

Take 2 drops daily. Do not exceed this dose and follow the directions on your bottle. General directions for other oregano products should not automatically be applied to Super Strength.

Do not increase the dose because of the strength designation or estimate an equivalent number of capsules. Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use if you take medicines or have a medical condition.

Can children take these drops? What about pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. No separate dose for children is specified. Do not derive one from the adult dose or general instructions for other products.

Ask a paediatrician or pharmacist about a child’s age and the specific formula before choosing a supplement. Keep these drops out of reach of young children and avoid contact with eyes and sensitive mucous membranes.

How should I choose between OregaUltra, H2Orega and Super Strength?

OregaUltra uses an oregano ingredient with a declared 84% carvacrol content. Its formula also includes black seed oil, unlike the two-oil Super Strength blend. Two drops contain 50 mg of the complete three-oil blend. A raw ingredient’s carvacrol percentage does not establish the amount present in the finished dose.

H2Orega differs through micellisation and its ability to mix with water. The oil constituents are processed so that they disperse in water. It has its own five-drop dose, declaring 100 mg of the micellised blend. Water miscibility alone does not establish a particular increase in absorption or health effects.

Compare H2Orega if you want to mix oregano into a drink; compare the oregano proportion and other ingredients in Original Strength, Super Strength and OregaUltra if you prefer oil drops. If you would rather take capsules, compare Super Strength softgels and follow their own directions. Do not automatically combine products or substitute doses based on drop counts or total blend weight.

Why do you not list the effects discussed in oregano studies?

Research on a plant or isolated compound does not automatically establish effects for a finished food supplement. The oregano species, extract, concentration, dose and route of administration may differ. Laboratory findings cannot simply be presented as health benefits of these drops in people.

EU health-claim rules also apply to supplement advertising and require specific conditions to be met. We explain the verified ingredients, origin and processing without making prevention or treatment claims.

Is the whole product organic, and is it vegan?

The oregano and olive oil blend is suitable for vegans.

The organic designation applies to the extra virgin olive oil ingredient. That alone does not establish organic certification for the whole supplement. Facility certifications likewise do not automatically apply to every product.

How long does a bottle last, and how should I store it?

The 30 ml label declares 432 doses of two drops. This count applies to that bottle size; it is not a recommended period of continuous use. For another size, follow the information on its own packaging.

Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Observe its best-before date. The dose count does not establish how long the opened product remains usable.
