OregaULTRA – Wild Oregano Oil Drops, 30 ml 84% naturally occurring carvacrol in the oregano oil • organic extra virgin olive oil • food supplement
Wild mountain oregano, hand-picked in Turkey, with a natural carvacrol content of 84%. North American Herb & Spice dilutes the oregano oil with organic extra virgin olive oil and black seed oil. The 84% figure refers to the oregano oil before mixing, not to the finished drops.
- Wild-harvested: gathered by hand by local communities in remote mountain areas.
- No synthetic carvacrol added: the carvacrol comes from the oregano itself.
- Organic extra virgin olive oil: the carrier and stabiliser in the blend.
- 2 drops a day: 50 mg of the complete blend. Each 30 ml bottle contains 432 daily doses; this does not set the length of use.
Food supplement.
Why OregaULTRA is Pravé Bio
We’ve worked directly with North American Herb & Spice since 2015. For OregaULTRA, its team sought out wild oregano in Turkey’s remote mountain regions, selecting an oil with a natural carvacrol content of 84%. No synthetic carvacrol is added. We value that knowledge of the plants and their origins, backed by the brand’s own product development and manufacturing.
In the bottle, that oregano oil is diluted with organic extra virgin olive oil and black seed oil. The 84% refers to the oregano oil before mixing. It does not mean that the finished drops are 84% carvacrol, nor does it tell you how much carvacrol is in each daily dose.
OregaULTRA & P73: the name, explained
- P73 is NAHS’s own name for a blend of oils from selected edible species of wild oregano. It is neither a botanical name nor a general quality grade.
- P stands for potency, purity and phenolic power: a reference to the oil’s strength, purity and naturally occurring phenolic compounds.
- 73 refers to an average carvacrol content of approximately 73% in the original oregano oil blend. OregaULTRA uses a different wild mountain oregano with a naturally occurring carvacrol content of 84%.
- These percentages describe the oregano oil before dilution with a carrier. They do not give the carvacrol concentration of the finished drops.
A note on health claims. We do not have the evidence needed to establish that a health claim is permitted for OregaULTRA at its recommended daily dose. Laboratory findings about oregano cannot, on their own, substantiate such a claim for these drops. Our FAQ explains the distinction between research and health claims.
Suitable for
Plant-based oil drops for adults.
Warnings
- Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
- Food supplements should not replace a varied diet. A varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle are important.
- Keep out of reach of young children.
- For adults. Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you take medication or have a medical condition, consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.
- Avoid contact with the eyes and intimate areas. The oil may cause an intense burning sensation.
Carvacrol & thymol: what 84% means
OregaULTRA’s carvacrol content comes from the wild mountain oregano selected for its oil. NAHS does not add synthetic carvacrol. When comparing products, check where the carvacrol comes from and what else is in the bottle, as well as the percentage on the label.
- Carvacrol and thymol occur naturally in oregano oil. NAHS selects oregano with a high carvacrol content and a low thymol content.
- Carvacrol is only part of the picture. The balance of its other compounds varies with the plant species, growing location and harvest.
How can you tell whether carvacrol is natural?
- There is more to oregano oil than carvacrol. A 2024 analysis of four commercial oregano oils identified 119 compounds in total. Their number and relative amounts differed between samples. The study examined other commercial oils, not OregaULTRA.
- A percentage alone does not reveal origin. Carvacrol can be isolated from plants or made synthetically. Adding isolated carvacrol can increase its percentage without preserving the oil’s original balance of other compounds. A high percentage alone, however, does not prove that synthetic carvacrol has been added.
- Different tests answer different questions. Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) identifies the constituents of an oil and their relative amounts. Isotope analysis can help distinguish natural from synthetic origins: a 2006 study found differences in hydrogen isotope ratios between the natural and synthetic samples tested. This research demonstrates the method; it did not test OregaULTRA.
What does the carvacrol percentage tell you about the dose?
- A percentage in the essential oil does not tell you the amount in a dose. A daily dose of 2 drops contains 50 mg of the complete three-oil blend. The label does not specify how much of that blend is oregano oil, so the 50 mg figure cannot be used to calculate the carvacrol content. To compare products, you also need to consider the carrier oils, the concentration of the finished drops and the recommended daily dose.
Wild oregano from the Turkish mountains
OregaULTRA’s oregano comes from remote mountain areas of Turkey. NAHS looks for wild oregano with naturally high carvacrol levels, drawing on its knowledge of the plants and their growing conditions.
- Hand-picked by local harvesters. NAHS works with long-standing partners and village communities who know the local plants and when to harvest them.
- Allowing wild plants to regenerate. NAHS’s sourcing commitments include protecting wild habitats and avoiding excessive harvesting, so the plants can regrow.
- Steam distillation extracts the aromatic oil. Steam releases the plant’s volatile aromatic compounds; after cooling, the oil separates from the water. The resulting essential oil therefore differs from dried oregano or a herbal infusion.
- From local harvesters to in-house manufacturing. NAHS sources herbs through long-standing partners and develops and manufactures the finished products itself. That direct relationship makes it possible to trace the herbs from harvest through processing.

Why OregaULTRA uses olive oil
OregaULTRA’s carrier oils lower the concentration of the oregano essential oil. The ratio of oregano, olive and black seed oils determines the concentration of the finished blend, and how much oregano oil is in each dose. This is why the recommended dose applies to the finished drops, rather than to the essential oil on its own.
Organic extra virgin olive oil acts as both a carrier and a stabiliser. It is produced without refining, retaining its naturally occurring phenolic compounds and tocopherols. Black seed oil adds its own distinctly spicy flavour.
Take the drops with food or add them to water or juice. The oil will not dissolve in the drink and may remain on the surface even after stirring. Expect a pronounced herbal taste.
Essential oil, food supplement or kitchen herb?
- OregaULTRA is a food supplement with carrier oils. It is prepared for oral use at the dose shown on its label. Other products sold as “oregano oil” may have different uses and concentrations; their instructions are not interchangeable.
- Geusi Vounou organic oregano essential oil is an undiluted oil from a family farm in Greece. Essential oils are used as aromatic ingredients in aromatherapy, cosmetics and household products; follow the individual product’s directions for use and dilution. Do not swallow undiluted oregano essential oil or put it in your mouth: it can severely irritate mucous membranes and is not a substitute for these supplement drops.
- For the kitchen, choose dried oregano. Use organic dried Greek oregano with tomatoes, feta, roast potatoes or marinades. The Geusi Vounou collection also includes other herbs, seasonings and Greek specialities.
Why use olive oil or MCT oil as a carrier?
- Extra virgin olive oil is obtained by mechanical or other physical methods, without refining. Alongside predominantly monounsaturated fats, it retains naturally occurring phenolic compounds and tocopherols. It has its own flavour and aroma, and its natural antioxidants contribute to oxidative stability.
- MCT oil consists mainly of triglycerides containing medium-chain saturated fatty acids, usually caprylic and capric acids. Its neutral taste, fluid texture and resistance to oxidation are useful in manufacturing, as is its consistent composition. If you want a neutral-tasting oil for coffee or smoothies, browse our MCT oils to compare their sources and C8/C10 composition.
- OregaULTRA uses organic extra virgin olive oil. Alongside its fats, this unrefined oil retains naturally occurring phenolic compounds and tocopherols. The choice of carrier does not reveal how much oregano essential oil is in the drops, so check the ingredients and recommended dose too.
- For salads, vegetables and finishing dishes, explore our extra virgin olive oils, including high-polyphenol options. Compare their origin, olive varieties and flavour to find one for your kitchen.
How does OregaULTRA differ from Super Strength?
- Super Strength drops have a higher proportion of oregano oil to olive oil than Original Strength. OregaULTRA uses a different oregano source with a naturally occurring carvacrol content of 84%. A higher proportion of oregano oil in the blend is different from a higher carvacrol content in the oregano itself. Neither figure replaces the product’s dosing instructions.
If you prefer a gentler taste
Stirring the drops into water does not dissolve the oil. They may remain on the surface, and adding them to a drink does not remove their strong taste.
- Original Strength softgels contain P73 and organic extra virgin olive oil in a tapioca shell. You swallow the softgel whole with food, without tasting the oil on your tongue.
- H2Orega contains micellised oregano oil, which disperses in water. Once diluted, we find it gently herbal and spicy, with less of the sharpness of oil drops taken under the tongue. Add the recommended 5 drops to a drink, following H2Orega’s own directions. We like H2Orega in lukewarm water with a teaspoon of honey. More water gives a milder herbal flavour. Browse our honeys from different regions and floral sources to choose a flavour you enjoy.
Ingredients
| Per recommended daily dose | 2 drops |
|---|---|
| NAHS proprietary oil blend Organic extra virgin olive oil, black seed oil and organic wild oregano oil (OregaULTRA). The oregano oil contains 84% carvacrol before mixing. | 50 mg |
50 mg is the weight of the complete three-oil blend. The 84% figure refers to the oregano oil before dilution. The label does not give a separate amount for oregano oil or carvacrol per daily dose. No nutrient reference value has been established for this blend.
How to use
Take 2 drops daily. The drops can be placed under the tongue, added to juice or water, or taken with food. The oil does not dissolve in a drink and retains its strong taste.
How we take ours: We hold the drops under the tongue for a moment before swallowing; for us, the initial sharpness eases a little, so they go down more comfortably. If you feel any burning or irritation, don’t hold them in your mouth. Another option we like is to add the recommended dose to a spoonful of honey, then swallow. The honey takes the edge off the strong herbal flavour. You’ll find a choice of honeys in our collection — choose one you enjoy.
How long does a bottle last at 2 drops a day?
| Bottle size | Daily doses | Bottle lasts |
|---|---|---|
| 30 ml | 432 | 432 days |
The label lists 432 daily doses. This tells you how long the bottle lasts at 2 drops a day; it is not advice to take the drops continuously for 432 days.
Close the bottle after use and store away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep out of reach of children.

FAQs
How do I take OregaULTRA, and how long does a bottle last?
Take 2 drops daily. Place them under the tongue, add them to water or juice, or take them with food. The oil does not dissolve in water and retains its strong taste. The label lists 432 daily doses per 30 ml bottle, which lasts 432 days at 2 drops a day. This is not a recommendation to take it for that length of time.

Can oregano oil cause heartburn or stomach irritation?
Some people experience heartburn, nausea or other digestive discomfort when taking concentrated oregano oil. Even a carrier-oil blend may irritate the mouth and mucous membranes. Follow the directions and stop taking it if irritation occurs. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor or pharmacist. Do not use if you are allergic to oregano or another ingredient.

Is OregaULTRA suitable for children?
OregaULTRA is for adults. Do not calculate a child’s dose from the adult recommendation of 2 drops. NAHS has a separate Kid-e-Kare range, including OregaWell with oregano P73 and other plant oils. Follow OregaWell’s own dosing and age guidance: it is not for children under 3, and you should consult a paediatrician or pharmacist before giving it to an older child.

Can I take OregaULTRA during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Do not use OregaULTRA during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Concentrated oregano oil is not equivalent to the small amounts of oregano used in cooking. There are insufficient safety data on oregano supplements during breastfeeding.

What does 84% carvacrol mean?
It is the proportion of carvacrol in the oregano oil before dilution with the carrier oils. The finished drops also contain olive oil and black seed oil. The 84% figure alone does not reveal how much carvacrol is in 2 drops: that also depends on how much oregano oil is in the finished blend.

How does OregaULTRA compare with Original Strength and Super Strength?
OregaULTRA uses a different oregano source with a naturally occurring carvacrol content of 84%. The original P73 oregano oil blend averages approximately 73%. Super Strength drops differ from Original Strength in their higher proportion of oregano oil to olive oil. The ratio of oils in the bottle is different from the carvacrol percentage in the oregano oil. If you prefer not to taste the oil, Original Strength softgels are swallowed whole, so the oil does not touch your tongue.

How long can I take OregaULTRA for?
The label gives a daily dose but does not set a course length. A bottle containing 432 doses is not a recommendation to take the oil continuously for 432 days. If you are considering long-term use, take medication or have a medical condition, discuss suitability and duration with a doctor or pharmacist.

Is OregaULTRA an undiluted essential oil?
No. It is oregano essential oil mixed with olive oil and black seed oil, for use according to its label. By contrast, Geusi Vounou oregano essential oil is undiluted, without a carrier oil. It has separate instructions for aromatic use and must not be put in the mouth. For cooking, choose dried Greek oregano, for example with vegetables, cheese or marinades.

Does OregaULTRA contain synthetic carvacrol?
No synthetic carvacrol is added to OregaULTRA. Its 84% carvacrol content occurs naturally in the wild oregano selected by NAHS.

Which option should I choose if I dislike the strong taste?
Choose Original Strength softgels if you want to avoid the oil’s strong taste in your mouth. If you prefer to add drops to a drink, H2Orega contains micellised oregano oil that disperses in water. We find the diluted flavour gently herbal and spicy, and milder when mixed into a larger mug of water. We like it in lukewarm water with a teaspoon of honey. Explore our honeys from different regions and floral sources to find a flavour you enjoy. H2Orega has its own directions and a different dose from OregaULTRA.

Why don’t you list health benefits for oregano oil?
Research into an ingredient is not the same as permission to make a health claim for a finished supplement. For botanical claims, the exact plant, plant part, processing method and dose all matter. We do not have the evidence needed to establish that a health claim is permitted for this blend at its recommended daily dose.

What does NAHS stand for, and who makes OregaULTRA?
NAHS stands for North American Herb & Spice, a US company with its own product development and manufacturing. OregaULTRA is one of its oregano preparations. Its team selects the ingredients and processing methods, then checks the raw materials and finished blends. Pravé Bio is its exclusive European distributor; our relationship began in 2015.
