Oreganol P73 Original Strength – wild oregano oil drops, 8 / 13.5 / 30 ml hand-picked Mediterranean mountain oregano • organic extra virgin olive oil • alcohol-free • food supplement
Wild mountain oregano oil in organic extra virgin olive oil. North American Herb & Spice uses its own P73 blend of edible oregano species, gathered by hand in Mediterranean mountain regions. Steam distillation extracts the essential oil with its naturally occurring aromatic compounds, including carvacrol and thymol.
- Hand-picked oregano: local harvesters pick the oregano by hand in Mediterranean mountain regions, particularly Turkey.
- Steam distillation: the oregano oil is extracted without hexane or butane. The finished drops contain no alcohol, sweeteners or added flavourings.
- Developed and made by NAHS: the company develops its own formulas and manufactures and bottles liquid products at its US facility.
- Checks before and after manufacture: raw ingredients and finished products are tested for identity, selected constituents and unwanted impurities.
- Two drops daily: under the tongue or in juice or water. Expect a pronounced herbal taste; stir when adding the oil to a drink.
Why is Oreganol P73 Original Strength Pravé Bio
We choose Oreganol P73 for its wild mountain source and North American Herb & Spice’s own blend of oregano species. Original Strength contains essential oil from selected edible oregano species in organic extra virgin olive oil. We look closely at where the plants grow, the oil’s aromatic composition and how it is made, from harvest to finished drops.
The oregano grows wild in Mediterranean mountain regions, particularly Turkey, where it is gathered by hand. NAHS works with local harvesters who know the plants and their growing sites. The herbs come from natural mountain populations rather than a planted field. Species, growing conditions and harvest timing all influence the essential oil’s aromatic profile.
The wholefood approach preserves oregano’s natural mixture of aromatic compounds. Steam distillation extracts the volatile fraction of the herb, with carvacrol alongside thymol and other naturally occurring constituents. NAHS blends this essential oil with organic extra virgin olive oil, without adding synthetic carvacrol.
P73, carvacrol and the olive oil carrier
- P73 identifies NAHS’s own oil blend from selected edible species of wild oregano. Botanical identity and the essential oil’s naturally occurring aromatic compounds guide the selection.
- Carvacrol and thymol occur naturally in oregano essential oil. NAHS selects species with naturally high carvacrol and lower thymol levels for P73.
- Extra virgin olive oil carries the concentrated oregano essential oil. These finished drops therefore differ from undiluted essential oils sold for other purposes, such as fragrance.
Suitable for
Warnings
- Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
- Food supplements should not replace a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
- For adults. Keep out of reach of young children. Do not calculate a child’s dose from the adult directions.
- Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if you take medicines or have a medical condition.
- Do not use if allergic to oregano, olives or any ingredient. Avoid contact with eyes and sensitive mucous membranes.
Steam distillation and oregano’s aromatic compounds
NAHS extracts oregano essential oil by steam distillation. Steam releases volatile compounds from the plant material. Cooling condenses the vapour, allowing the essential oil to separate from the water. Its composition differs from dried oregano leaf and from a herb infused in oil.
NAHS does not extract its oregano using hexane or butane. The oil retains a naturally occurring mixture of aromatic constituents, rather than consisting of isolated carvacrol added to olive oil.
Distillation conditions influence the essential oil’s composition. A 2023 study of Greek oregano examined how time, pressure and temperature affect oil yield and volatile constituents. It helps explain why the way a plant is processed matters when assessing its oil.
Checking essential oil composition and authenticity
- Gas chromatography separates individual aromatic constituents. The wider chemical profile provides information beyond a single carvacrol percentage. Calculating carvacrol in a finished dose also requires the proportion of oregano oil in the blend.
- Isotope analysis can help distinguish natural aromatic compounds from synthetic material. A 2006 analytical study examined carvacrol, thymol and other essential oil constituents. Alongside chromatography, it illustrates methods for investigating the composition and authenticity of plant oils.
Herbal oil drops, without alcohol or added flavourings
The herbal, aromatic flavour comes from oregano essential oil. Organic extra virgin olive oil acts as its carrier. There are no sweeteners or added flavourings to disguise oregano’s taste.
These oil of oregano drops already contain an olive oil carrier. They differ from undiluted essential oil, an alcohol-based oregano tincture and an oil made by steeping the herb. A dropper bottle alone does not identify the preparation: check its ingredients and directions.
- Count two drops into juice or water and stir. Small oil droplets or a layer at the surface can remain. Stirring does not produce a lasting emulsion.
- Prefer to avoid the direct taste? Compare Oreganol P73 Original Strength softgels. Their oil content and directions are different: a capsule is not a substitute for a single drop.

Original Strength, Super Strength, OregaUltra or H2Orega?
Original Strength uses the original two-oil P73 formula. Super Strength has a higher oregano-to-olive-oil ratio. Both 30 ml labels declare 50 mg of the complete blend per two drops, so matching blend weights do not establish matching oregano amounts. The exact proportions of the two oils are not disclosed.
OregaUltra changes both the oregano specification and the accompanying oils. Its oregano ingredient has a declared 84% carvacrol content before blending with organic extra virgin olive oil and black seed oil. Two drops contain 50 mg of all three oils together. The 84% figure does not describe the contents of the whole bottle.
H2Orega is a micellised P73 formula that mixes with water. Its five-drop daily dose contains 100 mg of the micellised blend. Compare it if dispersion in a water-based drink is a priority. Original Strength can also be added to juice or water as directed, but it remains an oil. Neither drop counts nor total blend weights establish equivalent doses between these different formulas.
Botanicals For Life oregano oil contains Origanum vulgare leaf essential oil in organic cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil. It is also a carrier-oil blend, rather than an undiluted essential oil. Its oregano ingredient differs from the multiple-species P73 blend, and it has its own dosing instructions.
What does P73 mean?
- P stands for potency, purity and phenolic power. The designation expresses NAHS’s criteria for selecting its oregano blend.
- 73 refers to an average of approximately 73% carvacrol in the oregano oil itself. Natural levels vary between harvests. It does not mean that the finished drops contain 73% carvacrol or that every batch has an identical percentage.
Why 50 mg does not mean 50 mg of oregano oil
- The 30 ml label declares 50 mg of the whole oil blend per two drops. That weight includes the olive oil carrier.
- The separate oregano oil and carvacrol amounts are not stated. Multiplying 50 mg by 0.73 therefore does not give the carvacrol content.
Understanding the 60:1 comparison
- NAHS uses 60:1 when comparing oregano oil with dried oregano leaf. This is not the oregano-to-olive-oil ratio or a carvacrol percentage.
- Use the label to compare the finished drops. Blend weight per daily dose and the carrier-oil proportion concern the finished formula; the 60:1 figure compares oregano oil with dried herb.
Choosing between Original Strength and Super Strength
- Super Strength has a higher proportion of oregano oil relative to olive oil than Original Strength. Both versions have a recommended daily dose of two drops, so the difference to compare is the oil blend itself.
- A single constituent’s percentage is insufficient to compare finished supplements. The full formula, amount per daily dose and directions all need to be considered.
Ingredients and label information
| Amount per daily dose – 30 ml label | 2 drops |
|---|---|
| Blend of organic extra virgin olive oil and wild Mediterranean oregano oil P73 | 50 mg |
Ingredients: organic extra virgin olive oil, wild Mediterranean oregano oil P73. The declared 50 mg includes both oils together. Separate amounts for oregano essential oil and carvacrol are not stated. No nutrient reference value has been established for this oil blend.
How to Use
Take 2 drops daily, under the tongue or in juice or water. Count individual drops; a full pipette is not the daily dose. If adding to a drink, stir and drink the whole prepared amount.
When changing strength or format, follow the directions for that product. Original Strength has its own oregano-to-olive-oil ratio. Compare the ingredients and recommended daily dose when choosing Super Strength, H2Orega or softgels.
Bottle sizes and dose count
| Bottle | Daily dose | Dose count |
|---|---|---|
| 8 ml | 2 drops | follow the label on that bottle |
| 13.5 ml | 2 drops | follow the label on that bottle |
| 30 ml | 2 drops | 432 as declared on the label |
The 30 ml label declares 432 doses, equivalent to 432 days at two drops daily. When choosing a bottle size, also consider the best-before date and storage instructions. Follow the packaging directions after opening, and check the individual labels for the smaller bottles’ dose counts.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Close the bottle after use and keep out of reach of young children.

North American Herb & Spice: formulation, expertise & in-house manufacturing
From ingredient to finished supplementNAHS develops and manufactures its own supplements. Founder Judy K. Gray remains personally involved in sourcing and formulation, working with the brand’s development, manufacturing and quality-control teams.
Oregano was just the beginning
The range began with Oreganol P73. Judy K. Gray has since developed more than 400 formulas for NAHS and its sister brand, Physician’s Strength, which has a separate range for healthcare practitioners.
The wholefood approach
NAHS aims to retain naturally occurring compounds together. For pressed oils, that means considering the seed’s accompanying compounds as well as its fatty acids; for oregano, the essential oil’s wider aromatic profile. The plant and the part used determine how it is processed.
Beyond oregano
The North American Herb & Spice range includes black seed, turmeric, chaga, wild berries and fish oils. Explore capsules, drops, powders and drink blends made with different plant and animal ingredients, each with its own directions.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Original Strength and Super Strength?
They use the same two types of oil in different proportions. Original Strength is the original P73 formula in organic extra virgin olive oil; Super Strength has a higher proportion of oregano essential oil relative to olive oil. The distinction does not change the recommended daily drop count.
Both 30 ml labels declare 50 mg of the whole blend per two drops. That weight includes the olive oil, so it does not establish an equal amount of oregano in the two products.
NAHS’s “285% stronger” description refers to the relative proportions of the oils. It describes the higher oregano-to-olive-oil proportion in Super Strength; the exact ingredient ratio is not disclosed. The recommended daily dose for each version is two drops.

Does P73 mean these drops contain 73% carvacrol?
No. P73 is North American Herb & Spice’s own designation for its oregano oil blend. P refers to potency, purity and phenolic power; 73 refers to an average of approximately 73% carvacrol in the oregano oil ingredient. It is not the name of one botanical species.
The finished drops also contain olive oil, so the percentage does not describe the whole formula. Natural carvacrol levels can vary between harvests. The label does not state the carvacrol amount in the daily dose.

How much oregano oil is in two drops?
The 30 ml label declares 50 mg of the combined oil blend per two drops. This includes oregano oil and olive oil. The separate oregano amount and exact ingredient ratio are not stated.
It is therefore incorrect to describe this as 50 mg of pure oregano oil or carvacrol. Nor can the carvacrol amount be calculated as 73% of the entire blend. This declaration applies to the 30 ml bottle.

What does the 60:1 comparison with dried oregano mean?
NAHS uses 60:1 to compare oregano oil with dried oregano leaf. Distillation separates volatile aromatic compounds, while dried leaf also contains non-volatile material. These are different preparations of the plant.
For the finished drops, compare the actual ingredients and blend amount per daily dose. The 60:1 comparison concerns dried herb; the proportion of oregano oil to olive oil is a separate measurement.

Is this oil of oregano a tincture or an essential oil?
Original Strength is a finished blend of steam-distilled oregano essential oil and organic extra virgin olive oil. The olive oil carries the essential oil and is included in the declared blend weight. A tincture is usually an alcohol extract; an infused oil is made by steeping herbs in oil. Neither describes how the oregano ingredient here is obtained.
Undiluted oregano essential oil is a different product, not a substitute to take at the same dose. Our range includes Geusi Vounou pure oregano essential oil. Do not swallow it undiluted or apply Oreganol’s dosing instructions to it. Follow that product’s intended use and its own use and dilution instructions.

What do Original Strength drops taste like? Are they alcohol-free?
They have a pronounced herbal, aromatic oregano flavour. The olive oil carrier does not disguise it with sweeteners or added flavourings. The drops also contain no alcohol or glycerine.
Aroma and flavour can vary naturally between harvests. Use the dropper and the directions on your bottle to measure the dose. If the pronounced herbal taste does not suit you, compare the softgel format, with its own oil content and dosing instructions.

Do I have to take Original Strength under my tongue?
The directions also allow the drops in water or juice. Measure the recommended two drops, stir and drink the prepared amount. The olive oil carrier does not dissolve in water, so droplets may remain on the surface. If you prefer to avoid tasting the oil directly, compare Original Strength softgels.
Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. If you take medicines or have a medical condition, speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use.

Can children take Original Strength? Is it suitable during pregnancy?
These drops are for adults. Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
A paediatrician or pharmacist can advise on a child’s age and a particular product’s ingredients. Keep this bottle out of reach of young children. Do not use if allergic to oregano or olives, and avoid contact with eyes and sensitive mucous membranes.

How do OregaUltra, H2Orega and softgels differ?
OregaUltra has a different oil blend and oregano specification. It also contains black seed oil, while its oregano ingredient has a declared 84% carvacrol content. Two drops contain 50 mg of the complete three-oil blend, not 50 mg of carvacrol.
H2Orega is a micellised formula that disperses in water. Its five-drop daily dose contains 100 mg of the micellised blend. Compare this format if you want the oil to disperse in a water-based drink.
Original Strength softgels are an alternative if the direct taste of oil does not suit you. Their fill weight and directions are different. Do not automatically add doses together or substitute one form for another by matching numbers of drops or capsules.

Why do you not list the effects discussed in oregano studies?
Research on a plant or isolated compound does not automatically establish effects for a finished food supplement. The oregano species, extract, concentration, dose and route of administration may differ. Laboratory findings cannot simply be presented as health benefits of these drops in people.
EU health-claim rules also apply to supplement advertising and require specific conditions to be met. We explain the verified ingredients, origin and processing without making prevention or treatment claims.

Are these drops vegan, and what does organic mean on the label?
These drops are suitable for vegans: both ingredients are plant oils.
USDA Organic and MOSA Certified Organic: the referenced US label carries organic certification. MOSA is a USDA-accredited certifying organisation that checks compliance with the National Organic Program (NOP). USDA Organic identifies the organic standards; MOSA identifies the certifier. Certification covers organic production and processing, while wild harvesting describes the oregano’s source and how it is gathered. How MOSA certifies.

Which bottle size should I choose: 8, 13.5 or 30 ml?
These sizes are the same Original Strength formula, with directions for two drops daily. A smaller bottle can suit a first purchase while you get to know the flavour; a larger one may suit regular use. The referenced 30 ml label lists 432 servings. Check the best-before date of the bottle you choose.
The dose count helps you compare bottle sizes. For keeping the oil, follow the best-before date and packaging instructions. Store tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Dose count and shelf life after opening are separate pieces of information.

What makes Oreganol P73 worth its higher price to us?
We value its wild mountain source, hand harvesting and the multiple-species P73 blend. NAHS selects edible oregano species through long-standing local partners. Steam distillation extracts the essential oil without hexane or butane, retaining its naturally occurring aromatic compounds before it is blended with organic extra virgin olive oil. NAHS also develops its own formulas and checks incoming ingredients and finished products.
An organic label tells only part of an oregano oil’s story. Organically grown oregano may come from a cultivated field; wild harvesting describes a different source. For P73, we value the natural mountain habitat, harvesting by hand and the selection of several species for their aromatic composition. These are qualities we look for in a premium oregano oil.
When comparing prices, consider the oregano’s origin, botanical composition, extraction method, carrier oil and blend amount per daily dose. Those details allow a fuller comparison of formulas than bottle volume or a single carvacrol percentage.
