Product detailed description

Why buy

Propolis tincture is used as a supportive agent for oral care or as an antiseptic to promote faster healing of superficial wounds.

  • To rinse the oral cavity, use a solution of 20 to 40 drops in about 100 ml of water 3 times a day.
  • The concentrated form can be applied directly to the affected areas in the oral cavity with a cotton swab, e.g. after treatment at the dentist.

How it works in healing skin wounds

One review from 2015 suggests that propolis may aid wound healing. A study on diabetic rats showed that propolis helps the skin grow new cells to repair itself.

Since people with diabetes may experience slow wound healing, this suggests that propolis could be beneficial for faster skin healing. Because propolis also kills certain types of bacteria, it can also help prevent infections.

How it works for oral health

According to the same 2015 review, propolis also appears to prevent the formation of calcium phosphate, which is a major component of dental plaque.

Propolis and honey are also antibacterial, which can make them useful as ingredients in dental care products.

According to one small study mentioned in a 2015 review, propolis significantly reduced the amount of bacteria in the saliva of people with periodontitis.

Key ingredients

  • Propolis contains minerals such as calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc, copper, iron, cobalt and selenium, as well as vitamins B1, B2, B6, C and E and a number of enzymes.
  • Propolis has antiseptic properties and can be used to treat skin infections such as acne, burns and fungal infections.
  • Potential benefits of propolis may include helping to heal minor wounds, promoting oral hygiene, helping with inflammation and treating cold sores.

Propolis is a resinous waxy substance that bees create by mixing their saliva with beeswax and compounds from various plants and trees. Bees use propolis to seal gaps in the hive to prevent intruders from entering. Propolis also has antimicrobial properties and can protect bees from pathogens.

The substances that make up propolis can be complex. Scientists have identified more than 300 separate compounds in propolis. The exact composition may depend on the location of the hive.

As a rough guide, propolis usually consists of:

  1. tree and vegetable resins: 50 %
  2. beeswax: 30%
  3. pollen: 5 %
  4. essential and aromatic oils: 10 %

Propolis also contains polyphenols, such as flavonoids, which are a type of antioxidant.

Who is Medarek

It is a young family that tries to live in harmony with nature. They are interested in health, beekeeping, mix their own cosmetics, like to take photos, brew their own beer and generally do many things their own way.

holky_medarekLead developer - Lucie

... the driving force behind the whole family and the family "business" is Lucy, who has only limited knowledge about bees, but a much greater understanding of the art of apiculture.

Lucka graduated from Masaryk University with a Master's degree in special education with a focus on speech therapy, sign language therapy and specific learning disorders. For five years she worked as a teacher in a kindergarten speech therapy class, but eventually fate took her in a completely different direction.

Some ask her if she regrets spending time studying at university when she now devotes her time to mixing ointments. However, she feels grateful to be her own boss (unless her son Vashik or daughter Helenka is in charge at home :)) and to be able to bring joy with her products.

It warms her heart to see that her zinc ointment helps little babies with skin problems, and she enjoys the idea of wedding guests enjoying the honey she has decorated at night.

standaPhotographer - Standa

...is not only the head of the family, but also the court photographer and an avid beekeeper who is not only interested in bees and honey, but also makes his own homemade mead and beer. His genius idea was the popular wedding honey bees :) .

Standa graduated from an industrial high school with a focus on mechanical engineering and after almost three years of working in the workshop he became a designer, where he spent the next 12 years. Every
