Why We Chose Cherry Bears

We chose Cherry Bears for both botanical oils and the ingredients used to make the jelly. Wild oregano P73 oil and cold-pressed black seed oil are part of this children’s recipe from the Kid-e-Kare range. The oils give the gummies their herbal character; the recipe contains no added flavourings.

Organic coconut blossom nectar and Peruvian yacon syrup sweeten the jelly. We prefer these ingredients to glucose syrup and refined cane sugar. Apple pectin replaces animal gelatine, and organic tart cherry concentrate adds the fruit flavour. There is no aspartame or sucralose in the recipe.

NAHS recommends Cherry Bears as a complementary gummy product alongside Orega-Cinn drops or OregaWell softgels. Children can take the gummies during the day alongside these products, but the gummies do not replace either product’s dose or ingredients. Two gummies contain 60 mg of the combined oil blend and 4 g sugars. Taking another product alongside the gummies does not increase their recommended daily dose.

Oregano P73 and Black Seed: Selection and Origin

  • P73 is a blend of oils from selected wild oregano species. NAHS sources hand-picked oregano from Mediterranean mountain regions, particularly Turkey. Selection favours naturally high carvacrol and low thymol levels, without artificially increasing either constituent. Species, growing location and harvest affect the essential oil’s composition. Steam distillation collects its volatile aromatic fraction, rather than the minerals and every other constituent of the dried herb.
  • Black seed is Nigella sativa, also known as black cumin. It is distinct from cumin and caraway. NAHS sources seeds for its oil range from the Mediterranean, particularly Turkey. Cold pressing yields fatty acids alongside naturally accompanying compounds, including thymoquinone. Seeds found in a flask at Boyalı Höyük, dated to around 1650 BC, document the ingredient’s long history in Anatolia.
  • 60 mg is the total oil blend in two gummies. It is not the amount of oregano alone, carvacrol or thymoquinone. The ingredient order does not establish a 50:50 ratio between the oils.

Important Information

  • Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
  • A food supplement is not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
  • Keep out of reach of young children. Give under adult supervision only to a child who can chew the jelly thoroughly.
  • Give only to a child who can chew the gummies safely and thoroughly, always under adult supervision. Consult a paediatrician if the child takes medicines or has a medical condition.
  • Do not use if allergic to any ingredient. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.

Oregano P73 and Black Seed Oil in Apple Pectin Jelly

NAHS retains the naturally occurring mixture in both oils rather than using a single isolated compound. For oregano, this includes aromatic constituents such as carvacrol and thymol; for black seed, fatty acids and accompanying compounds including thymoquinone. This wholefood approach does not mean that pressed oil contains the entire seed or that distilled oil contains the entire herb.

Apple pectin forms the structure that holds the dispersed oils. Water, acidity and the balance of sweetening ingredients also affect firmness and chewiness.

The oil content cannot simply be increased without changing the recipe. Its proportion affects the mixture’s physical behaviour and the texture of the finished jelly.

What Determines the Texture of an Oil Gummy?
  • Changing the oil content changes the pectin gel. A 2023 study of model gummies containing olive oil found changes in the pectin network and sugar crystallisation as the oil content varied. It did not test Cherry Bears or establish their manufacturing method or a maximum oil content.
  • Firmness and flavour are not measures of effectiveness. Colour, size or a stronger herbal taste cannot reveal the dose of carvacrol or thymoquinone. Ingredient quantities and specifications are needed for that comparison.
  • Extraction affects the composition of each oil. Steam distillation separates oregano’s volatile aromatic compounds; processing conditions also affect their profile. Pressing black seeds yields a fatty oil with naturally accompanying compounds. Research comparing cold pressing with supercritical extraction found different thymoquinone concentrations. Fibre and most seed protein remain in the pressed material. Those results do not establish the quantities in Cherry Bears.

Tart Cherry, Coconut Blossom Nectar and Herbal Notes

Tart cherry concentrate gives the gummies their fruit flavour. Coconut blossom nectar and yacon syrup sweeten the jelly; citric acid adjusts acidity. Oregano and black seed contribute herbal notes without added flavourings.

Customers reviewing Cherry Bears on Pravé Bio describe a mild oregano flavour and gummies that are not overly sweet. One customer reported that her child, who dislikes very sweet foods, enjoyed the bears. These are individual experiences, rather than a promise of the same response from every child.

  • Apple pectin replaces animal gelatine.
  • Coconut blossom nectar and yacon syrup contribute sugars. Choosing them does not make the recipe sugar-free.

Cherry Bears, Children’s Drops and Softgels

Cherry Bears contain tart cherry concentrate and 60 mg of combined oils in two gummies. These quantities do not establish a children’s dose for another product.

Orega-O’s contain 70 mg of combined oils per two gummies and use Concord grape concentrate. Black Seed Gummies have no added oregano P73; they declare 500 mg of a proprietary blend per two gummies and include pomegranate and sunflower lecithin. Our FAQs explain the differences in detail.

Cherry Bears have a complementary role in the children’s range. NAHS recommends them alongside Orega-Cinn drops or OregaWell softgels, as complementary products rather than dose-equivalent substitutes. Each recipe has its own ingredients and directions. Check both labels and discuss combined use with a paediatrician.

What P73 and the Number 73 Mean
  • P73 is a proprietary NAHS oregano designation. P refers to potency, purity and phenolic compounds; 73 refers to an average of approximately 73% carvacrol in the oregano oil itself. It is neither a botanical species nor an independent certification.
  • The percentage does not describe the finished gummy or the entire 60 mg oil blend. The oregano quantity is undisclosed, so multiplying 60 mg by 73% would not give the carvacrol content.
Why 60:1 Is Not a Children’s Gummy Dose
  • NAHS uses 60:1 when comparing oregano oil with dried leaf. It is not the ratio between the oils in Cherry Bears, an extraction ratio for the jelly or evidence of a threefold health effect.
  • A mass-based method for that comparison has not been published. It cannot establish grams of dried oregano per gummy or an equivalent oil-drop dose for a child.
The Role of the Other Ingredients
  • Tart cherry concentrate supplies fruit; apple pectin forms the gel. Coconut blossom nectar and yacon syrup are sweetening ingredients. Citric acid from citrus fruit adjusts acidity.
  • Sunflower lecithin is not listed in Cherry Bears. It belongs to the separate Black Seed Gummies recipe; products from the same brand should not be assumed to share every ingredient.
When to Ask a Paediatrician First
  • Check suitability for the child’s age and health before the first dose. Show the paediatrician the ingredients, the two-gummy directions and any other supplements or medicines.
  • Do not increase the number of gummies because the herbal flavour seems mild. Taste does not measure the oil content and is not a reason to change the dose.

North American Herb & Spice: formulation, expertise & in-house manufacturing

North American Herb & SpiceFrom ingredient to finished supplement

NAHS develops and manufactures its own supplements. Founder Judy K. Gray remains personally involved in sourcing and formulation, working with the brand’s development, manufacturing and quality-control teams.

Oregano was just the beginning

The range began with Oreganol P73. Judy K. Gray has since developed more than 400 formulas for NAHS and its sister brand, Physician’s Strength, which has a separate range for healthcare practitioners.

The wholefood approach

NAHS aims to retain naturally occurring compounds together. For pressed oils, that means considering the seed’s accompanying compounds as well as its fatty acids; for oregano, the essential oil’s wider aromatic profile. The plant and the part used determine how it is processed.

Beyond oregano

Black seed, turmeric, chaga and wild berries sit alongside fish oils in the range. They appear in capsules, drops, powders and drink blends, each with its own ingredients and directions.

Long-standing relationships at source

NAHS works with established local partners and harvesters. Its wild oregano is picked by hand in the Turkish mountains; other ingredients come from regions including Peru and northern Canada. Knowledge of local plants, harvests and growing conditions informs both ingredient selection and processing.

More than a buying relationship

NAHS has helped fund wells, schools and community facilities. Its Strong Community Causes programme also supports selected projects nominated by customers.

In-house research & development

The development team selects the ingredients, extracts and any carriers for each formula. It also determines the final format, from liquid oils to capsules and powders.

Made in Lake Forest, Illinois

NAHS has its own manufacturing facilities in Lake Forest, near Chicago. Liquid products are bottled on site under the supervision of the quality-control team.

Checks at both ends of production

Incoming ingredients and finished products are tested for identity, levels of selected constituents and unwanted impurities. Quality control continues beyond receipt of the raw material.

Processing to suit the ingredient

Cold pressing, steam distillation, CO₂ extraction, juicing and milling serve different purposes. Seeds yield pressed oils, while distillation can separate essential oils from aromatic herbs.

Knowing the source

Long-standing partners and local harvesters connect NAHS with the places its ingredients come from. Both the plant species and its growing environment inform the choice of raw material.

GMP & facility certifications

Manufacturing follows GMP principles. The facility holds organic, Kosher and Halal certifications; these do not automatically apply to every individual product.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are Cherry Bears different from ordinary gummy sweets?

Cherry Bears are a children’s food supplement with oregano P73 oil and black seed oil. Two gummies contain 60 mg of the oils together. Compared with jelly sweets made with glucose syrup and refined sugar, the sweetening ingredients also differ: NAHS uses organic coconut blossom nectar and Peruvian yacon syrup, with organic tart cherry concentrate as the fruit ingredient. Apple pectin replaces animal gelatine. No added flavourings, aspartame or sucralose appear in the ingredient list.

Those ingredient choices do not make the gummies sugar-free or suitable for unrestricted snacking. Two gummies contain 4 g sugars and form the recommended daily dose. An adult should control the number given and keep the bottle out of children’s reach. Discuss suitability for the individual child’s age with a paediatrician.

An oil-containing gummy needs its own formulation. Pectin, water, acidity and the balance of coconut blossom nectar and yacon syrup affect firmness and oil dispersion. Increasing the oil content therefore requires assessment of the whole mixture. A bear shape does not indicate how much oil or any individual constituent a child will take.

Which children is this format intended for?

The manufacturer places Cherry Bears in its children’s range. Give them only to a child who can chew the gummies safely and thoroughly, always under adult supervision. Follow the directions and the total daily serving of two gummies.

Does two Cherry Bears mean two with every meal?

Two gummies are the full daily serving on the referenced label, not two at every meal or whenever another supplement is taken. They need to be chewed thoroughly and given to children under adult supervision.

How much oregano, black seed oil, carvacrol and thymoquinone do they contain?

Two gummies contain 60 mg of the oils together, not 60 mg of each. The label does not disclose their ratio or individual amounts of carvacrol and thymoquinone. A 50:50 oil ratio cannot be assumed. Nor can the quantity of one constituent be calculated from the whole blend weight. When comparing supplements, first establish exactly what each declared milligram figure includes.

What does P73 mean, and does the 60:1 comparison apply to the gummies?

P73 is the NAHS designation for its oregano oil blend. The number refers to an average carvacrol proportion in the oregano oil itself, with natural harvest variation; it does not describe a percentage in the finished gummy. The 60:1 dried-leaf comparison is not a Cherry Bears dose specification. Without a published mass-based method, it cannot establish grams of herb per gummy or an equivalent children’s dose of drops.

Are they sugar-free or suitable for diabetes?

No: two gummies contain 5 g carbohydrate, including 4 g sugars. Coconut blossom nectar and yacon syrup contain sugars, even when used instead of refined cane sugar. The label does not establish the finished product’s glycaemic index or quantify fructooligosaccharides. Yacon alone does not establish a zero glycaemic index or make the gummies suitable for a ketogenic diet or for people with diabetes. Discuss individual use with the treating clinician.

Does the tart cherry concentrate completely hide the oregano taste?

Tart cherry concentrate supplies the fruit component, while coconut blossom nectar and yacon syrup add sweetness. Oregano P73 and black seed oil remain part of the recipe. Customers’ flavour experiences vary, so the same combination will not necessarily suit every child. Apple pectin forms the gummy structure.

How do Cherry Bears compare with Orega-O’s and Black Seed Gummies?

Cherry Bears declare 60 mg of combined black seed and oregano oils per two gummies, with tart cherry concentrate as the fruit ingredient. Orega-O’s declare 70 mg of their combined oils in two gummies and use Concord grape concentrate. Black Seed Gummies have no added oregano P73, declare 500 mg of a proprietary blend per two gummies and include pomegranate concentrate and sunflower lecithin. Different blend weights do not make these products dose-equivalent. A gummy format also does not establish the same age suitability.

How do Cherry Bears fit alongside Orega-Cinn drops or OregaWell softgels?

NAHS recommends Cherry Bears as a complementary gummy product alongside Orega-Cinn or OregaWell. Children can take them during the day alongside these products, but the gummies do not replace their dose or ingredients. Individual oil quantities in the gummies are undisclosed, so the 60 mg blend cannot establish an equivalent number of drops or softgels. Replacing the drops or softgels with gummies would therefore change the ingredients and quantities taken.

The recommended Cherry Bears dose remains two gummies in total per day. It does not mean another two gummies with every dose of drops or unrestricted snacking between doses. Follow the other product’s own directions as well. Discuss combined use for the child’s age and health with a paediatrician or pharmacist, particularly if the child takes medicines.

Why do you not promise immune support or other health effects?

EU health claims must meet the relevant legal conditions for the ingredient, form and dose, with specific rules for claims about children’s health. A US slogan or research on isolated carvacrol or black seed does not itself authorise those claims for these gummies. Botanical claims also require individual assessment. We therefore explain the verified ingredients and directions without promises to treat or prevent illness.

Are they vegan, and do organic ingredients mean the whole product is certified organic?

Apple pectin replaces animal gelatine, and the ingredient list is plant-based. Organic descriptions on the label apply to the coconut blossom nectar, yacon syrup, apple pectin, citric acid and tart cherry concentrate. Those ingredient descriptions do not by themselves establish EU organic certification of the finished food supplement. Vegan ingredients, organic sourcing and finished-product certification are separate matters.

How long does a bottle last, and how should I store it?

At two gummies daily, a bottle of 60 provides 30 daily doses. That calculation does not recommend continuous use for a specified number of months or establish a shelf life after opening. Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight, heat and young children. Follow the best-before date and any additional directions on the actual bottle.
