Roasted Sicilian Hazelnuts hand-picked • small farm in Sicily • farm produce • premium roasting • 1kg
Are you looking for roasted hazelnuts that are fresh, non-bitter, and have a full buttery taste with gently sweet, roasted notes? Nuts from the family farm Di Francesco Concetto under Etna in Sicily are hand-sorted and gently roasted right after harvest, making them crunchy and aromatic without over-roasting. Roasted hazelnuts are most commonly used in cake bases, tartlets, chocolate desserts, gingerbread, bundt cakes, and cookies, where roasting significantly enhances the taste of the dough.
Why we chose Výdejna chutí for PraveBio.cz
Výdejna chutí is our partner project that imports fresh tropical fruit from Greece and uses the Pravé Bio store in Otrokovice as a pick-up point for the Zlín region. Besides fruit, it also offers durable farm produce, which we decided to sell directly on the e-shop. Everything is without unnecessary additives, with traceable origins from farmers – for customers who want quality ingredients directly from the source.
Roasted Sicilian Hazelnuts – Handpicked from the Foothills of Etna
Roasted Sicilian Hazelnuts come from a small farm that operates in accordance with the principles of organic farming, and the origin of each batch is traceable.
Processing takes place directly at the farmer's, where the nuts are handpicked, carefully sorted, and gently roasted in small batches in a stone house among the hazelnut trees. This process helps preserve the freshness of the fruits, supports local farmers, and ensures traceable origin of the raw material from orchard collection to vacuum packaging.
The taste features notes of delicate sweetness and a light nutty aftertaste, typical of Sicilian varieties with a long tradition of cultivation. The nuts are naturally gluten-free, without added substances, and are suitable for everyone looking for a truly simple, pure ingredient without unnecessary additives.
Besides 'snacking straight from the bowl' and using in desserts, they are great for homemade nut creams and "Nutella" style spreads, granola, oatmeal, and as a crunchy topping on yogurt or ice cream. They also work well with cocoa in brownies, truffles, and pralines or even in savoury cuisine – in leafy salads with goat cheese, with roasted root vegetables, in pumpkin soup, or hazelnut pesto.

Why farm nuts are a better choice than the usual "supermarket" alternative
Regular packaged nuts aim for low price, long shelf life and bulk processing. They often come from mixing crops from different countries, undergo high-temperature roasting and may contain added oils or salt that mask their natural flavour.
Instead of the pure taste of nuts, the regular offer features nuts roasted in cheap vegetable fats and processed to be uniform and "consistently crunchy", which changes their aroma and texture.
Sicilian hazelnuts from the Di Francesco Concetto farm go the opposite way: they come from a single family orchard under Etna, where they are hand-picked, gently roasted and packaged on-site. They rely on a single origin approach and pure composition: only 100% hazelnuts.
No added oils, no salt and no aromas. This ensures traceable origin and the flavour reflects the place where the nuts grew.
Difference on the palate: natural crunch, slightly buttery taste and distinctive nutty aroma, typical of hazelnuts from the volcanic soil under Etna.
Instead of a uniform taste, you get a readable terroir and transparent origin.
What is the Taste Dispensary project
Taste Dispensary is a project that brings seasonal fruit directly from growers in Greece, Sicily and other Mediterranean regions to the Czech Republic. It is built on a short supply chain, fair prices for farmers and the fact that the fruit reaches customers a week after harvest – without intermediaries and unnecessary travel.
Because we have long supported transparent origin of raw materials and honest production processes, the partnership with Taste Dispensary makes deep sense to us. Although we do not sell fruit directly, we offer their durable products – Sicilian hazelnuts, unsulphured raisins or natural molasses. Like fresh fruit, these are pure, honest raw materials traceable down to the specific orchard.
Partnership with Pravé Bio
PraveBio.cz is one of the official distribution points of the Taste Dispensary project. Orders for fresh fruit are placed directly on the website Vydejnachuti.cz. Once a month, our store in Otrokovice serves as a place where customers can have their fruit orders delivered; we inform about order deadlines and delivery dates via newsletter.
Thanks to this model, customers can take advantage of fresh seasonal fruit directly from farmers without having to pay for expensive individual transport. Durable products that complement the project's philosophy – nuts, dried fruit and natural sweeteners – are then available directly on our e-shop.
Just like at PraveBio.cz, the key here is the effort to support small producers, bring people quality food and offer only what makes sense in terms of origin, quality and sustainability. Taste Dispensary is not a supermarket alternative – it is a direct connection with farmers who care about the land and what people eat.

Warning / Storage
- Store in a cool place (ideally 16–18 °C), dry and dark, away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
- Protect from foreign odors – quality nuts are naturally aroma-absorbing. Always store them well sealed.
- Avoid sudden temperature changes; they can affect the crispness and natural moisture of the nuts.
- We do not recommend storing nuts in the fridge; they may absorb moisture and limit their natural flavor.

Farmers’ story: from Etna and Greek vineyards
Sicilian hazelnuts come from farmer Concetto Di Francesco, who cultivates the volcanic foothills near Castiglione di Sicilia. The hazelnuts are hand-picked, shelled and roasted directly on the farm. The local variety “nocciola dell’Etna” is prized for its distinctive aroma shaped by volcanic soil.
Sultana raisins are grown by Greek farmers Vaggelis Skapentzis and Georgios Bisiotis. After harvesting, the grapes are dried naturally in the sun without sulphites or artificial drying, which gives the raisins their soft texture, fragrant aroma and rich natural flavour.
Benefits of hazelnuts
Hazelnuts are among the most nutrient-dense nuts. They contain high-quality proteins, beneficial unsaturated fats, vitamin E, magnesium, potassium, B-vitamins, polyphenols and fibre.
Nutritional benefits of raisins
Raisins are a concentrated source of energy, natural sugars, potassium, iron, fibre and antioxidants. Thanks to their natural sweetness, they can replace part of the sugar in recipes.
Why choose food directly from small farmers
The key difference is a transparent origin, hand harvesting and processing without anonymous wholesale storage. Both hazelnuts and raisins are produced with a focus on quality and freshness.
The latest-harvest nuts are gently roasted, and the raisins are dried naturally in the sun without sulphites. Their natural colour and aroma confirm the traditional production method.
Hazelnuts and dried grapes are naturally nutrient-dense – with no need for added flavourings or chemical treatments.
By choosing these products, you support sustainable agriculture and fair conditions for small farmers.
