Unsulphured Dark Raisins (Sultana variety) hand-picked • sourced directly from a Greek grower • sun-dried • no added sugar • 500 g
Looking for dark, unsulphured raisins that are juicy and full of intense fruity flavour? These sun-dried raisins have a soft texture, a pronounced aroma and a rich natural sweetness. Compared to light-coloured unsulphured raisins, bakers tend to use them in Christmas breads, sweet buns and other baked goods where the raisins are meant to stand out. They are also excellent enjoyed on their own as a quick, natural snack. Sourced from Greek growers Vaggelis Skapentzis and Georgios Bisiotis.
Why we chose Výdejna for PraveBio.cz
Výdejna chutí is our partner project that imports fresh tropical fruit from Greece and uses the Pravé Bio store in Otrokovice as a pick-up point for the Zlín region. In addition to fruit, it also offers durable farm ingredients, which we decided to sell directly on the e-shop. Everything is without unnecessary additives, with traceable origin from farmers – for customers who want quality ingredients directly from the source.
Unsulphured Black Raisins – miniature, juicy and sun-dried
Black unsulphured raisins come from a small family farm where grapes are grown in accordance with sustainable farming principles. They are miniature, soft and fragrant – eaten "like pearls," one after another. They stand out for their rich, natural sweetness, perfect for snacking or adding to porridges, salads, and desserts. They are grown by experienced Greek farmers Vaggelis Skapentzis and Georgios Bisiotis, who specialize in high-quality unsulphured raisins.
Processing takes place directly at the growers: grapes are hand-picked, carefully sorted, and then gently dried without the use of sulphur dioxide. This preserves the raisins' natural dark color, juiciness, and rich aroma. The same team then cleans and packs them in small batches, supporting local farmers and ensuring a transparent and traceable source from vineyard to package.
The taste is dominated by notes of delicate and pure sweetness that gradually develop in the mouth, with a light caramel and honey aftertaste. The raisins are naturally gluten-free, with no added sugar, oil, or preservatives – ideal for anyone looking for a simple, naturally sweet snack with fiber and valuable minerals.
Besides "snacking" directly from the package, unsulphured black raisins are perfect for oatmeal, homemade granola, yogurts, and smoothie bowls, as well as for baking – they enhance the flavor of bread, Christmas cake, bundt cake, cookies, or strudel. They also work well in salads, couscous, or bulgur, combined with cheese or nuts, adding natural sweetness and juicy contrast.

Why farm sultanas are a better choice than the usual "supermarket" alternative
Common packaged raisins target low cost, long shelf life, and large-volume processing. They often come from mixing crops from different countries, undergo chemical sulphuring, and may contain added oil or preservatives that mask their natural taste.
Instead of pure grape taste, the usual offerings feature raisins with artificially lightened colour, treated with sulphur dioxide, and modified to be uniform and "perfect to look at", which changes their aroma and texture.
Unsulphured sultanas from Vaggelis Skapentzis and Georgios Bisiotis take the opposite approach: they come from single small family vineyards, where the grapes are hand-picked, gently dried, and packed directly on site. They rely on a single origin approach and pure composition: only 100% dried sultana grapes.
Without sulphites, without oil, and without sugar. This ensures a traceable origin and the taste reflects the place where the grapes grew.
The difference on the tongue: natural juiciness, gently caramel sweetness, and rich fruity aroma, typical of genuinely dried sultanas.
Instead of uniform taste, you get a distinct terroir and transparent origin.
What is the Taste Outlet project
Taste Outlet is a project that brings seasonal fruit directly from growers from Greece, Sicily, and other Mediterranean regions to the Czech Republic. It is based on a short supply chain, fair prices for farmers, and the fact that the fruit reaches customers a week after harvest – without intermediaries and unnecessary travel.
Because we ourselves have long supported transparent origin of ingredients and honest production methods, the partnership with Taste Outlet makes deep sense to us. Although we do not sell fruit directly, we offer their durable products – Sicilian hazelnuts, unsulphured raisins, or natural molasses. Just like fresh fruit, these are ingredients that are pure, honest, and traceable down to the specific orchard.
Partnership with Pravé Bio
PraveBio.cz is one of the official distribution points of the Taste Outlet project. Orders for fresh fruit are made directly on the website Vydejnachuti.cz. Once a month, our store in Otrokovice serves as a place where customers can have their fruit order delivered; we inform about order deadlines and delivery dates via newsletter.
Thanks to this model, customers can take advantage of fresh seasonal fruit directly from farmers without having to pay for expensive individual transport. Durable products that complement the project's philosophy – nuts, dried fruit, and natural sweeteners – are then available directly from us on the e-shop.
As with PraveBio.cz, the key here is the effort to support small producers, bring people quality food, and offer only what makes sense in terms of origin, quality, and sustainability. Taste Outlet is not a supermarket alternative – it is a direct connection with farmers who care about the land and what people eat.
Traceable origin
Each product has a clear route: from a specific tree or orchard to the distribution point in Otrokovice. Transparency is the foundation of the entire project.

FAQ
Where exactly do these unsulphured sultanas come from?
Our sultanas come from small family vineyards of Vaggelis Skapentzis and Georgios Bisiotis. It is a single origin production – all grapes come from one specific place, ensuring traceable origin, authenticity and unique taste.

Are the sultanas sweetened or treated with sulphites?
No. These raisins are 100% unsulphured, without added sugar, oil or preservatives. Their natural sweetness comes only from ripe grapes and gentle drying. This preserves their natural brown colour, juiciness and slightly caramel taste.

How best to use raisins in the kitchen?
Unsulphured sultanas are great for snacking, in porridges, granola, baking (hot cross buns, Christmas bread, bundt cake, cookies), but also in savoury dishes – in salads, couscous, bulgur or with roasted vegetables. Their gentle sweetness beautifully complements nuts, yogurt, chocolate or cheeses.

Do the sultanas contain any allergens?
Raisins themselves are not common allergens. However, they may contain traces of nuts or other fruits depending on packaging conditions. If you have allergies, we recommend checking the current label on the package.

Are raisins suitable for vegans?
Yes. They are 100% natural dried grapes without any animal ingredients, oils, preservatives or additives. They are suitable for vegans, vegetarians and a regular varied diet.

How to properly store raisins?
Ideally in a dry and dark place at 16–18 °C, away from direct heat and sunlight. Raisins easily absorb surrounding odours, so always store them well sealed. Avoid moisture and sudden temperature changes – they can affect their softness and natural moisture. We do not recommend storing them in the fridge to prevent them from darkening due to moisture.

Farmers’ story: from Etna and Greek vineyards
Sicilian hazelnuts come from farmer Concetto Di Francesco, who cultivates the volcanic foothills near Castiglione di Sicilia. The hazelnuts are hand-picked, shelled and roasted directly on the farm. The local variety “nocciola dell’Etna” is prized for its distinctive aroma shaped by volcanic soil.
Sultana raisins are grown by Greek farmers Vaggelis Skapentzis and Georgios Bisiotis. After harvesting, the grapes are dried naturally in the sun without sulphites or artificial drying, which gives the raisins their soft texture, fragrant aroma and rich natural flavour.
Benefits of hazelnuts
Hazelnuts are among the most nutrient-dense nuts. They contain high-quality proteins, beneficial unsaturated fats, vitamin E, magnesium, potassium, B-vitamins, polyphenols and fibre.
Nutritional benefits of raisins
Raisins are a concentrated source of energy, natural sugars, potassium, iron, fibre and antioxidants. Thanks to their natural sweetness, they can replace part of the sugar in recipes.
Why choose food directly from small farmers
The key difference is a transparent origin, hand harvesting and processing without anonymous wholesale storage. Both hazelnuts and raisins are produced with a focus on quality and freshness.
The latest-harvest nuts are gently roasted, and the raisins are dried naturally in the sun without sulphites. Their natural colour and aroma confirm the traditional production method.
Hazelnuts and dried grapes are naturally nutrient-dense – with no need for added flavourings or chemical treatments.
By choosing these products, you support sustainable agriculture and fair conditions for small farmers.
