What is the GAPS diet?
GAPS (Gut and Psychology Syndrome), which loosely translated into English refers to the enormous influence of the gut microbiota not only on our psychological state, but also on our overall health. The name of this diet and its rules are based on the book Gut and Psychology Syndrome, written by physician Natasha Campbell-McBride. The basis for her work and her book was the almost 100-year-old diet of Dr. Sidney Haasse, who dealt with the treatment of digestive disorders. This diet is the predecessor of the GAPS and is called the Specific Carbohydrate Diet or SCD.
