Turtle Organic Gluten-Free Marshmallow Crunchies – 300 g 20% crunchy marshmallows • wholegrain oats • colours from plant extracts • contains bovine gelatine
Crisp wholegrain oat and rice cereal with 20% vanilla-flavoured marshmallows. Spirulina, apple, carrot and radish extracts give the marshmallow pieces their colours. Serve this organic, gluten-free cereal with milk or yoghurt.
- Wholegrain oats: the flour retains the bran and germ as well as the starchy centre of the grain.
- Certified organic ingredients: including the oats, rice and sugars used in the cereal and marshmallows.
- Regular gluten testing: Turtle tests its gluten-free products for gluten levels below 20 ppm.
- Contains gelatine: the marshmallows are not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.
Why it’s Pravé Bio
American-style marshmallow cereal made with organic grains and colours from plant extracts. Turtle Marshmallow Crunchies have a crisp base made with wholegrain gluten-free oat flour and rice flour. Small crunchy marshmallows make up 20% of the mix, with natural vanilla flavouring and colours from spirulina, apple, carrot and radish extracts.
We chose them for their organic certification, wholegrain oats and tested gluten-free recipe. Turtle regularly tests its gluten-free products for gluten content.
Expect a sweet cereal with a vanilla note and crunchy marshmallow pieces. Serve with milk, or scatter a little over yoghurt or dessert. The recipe contains no palm oil and provides 3.1 g of fibre per 100 g. For a fruity change from vanilla, try Turtle Color Loops cereal rings.
Suitable for

- Wholegrain oats: the oat flour uses the whole grain, including the bran and germ, alongside rice flour.
- 20% marshmallows: real crunchy pieces throughout the mix, rather than cereal with marshmallow flavouring alone.
- Plant extracts for colour: spirulina, apple, carrot and radish give the marshmallows their colours.
- Natural vanilla flavouring: adds the familiar vanilla note to the marshmallows.
- Organic certification: verifies the organic origin of the marked agricultural ingredients, beyond a general description such as “natural”.
- Gluten testing: Turtle regularly tests its gluten-free range to keep gluten content below 20 mg/kg.
This is a sweetened cereal. It contains cane sugar and glucose syrup, with 24 g of sugars per 100 g.
BAKING WITH TURTLE
Turtle Marshmallow Crunchies cookie recipe
For cookies with cereal folded into the dough and scattered on top, follow this Turtle recipe. It uses ordinary flour; for gluten-free baking, choose a suitable gluten-free flour and check the other ingredients.
Bake for 13–16 minutes · oven 150°C
Ingredients
- 50 g sugar and 120 g brown sugar
- 120 g softened butter
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar
- ½ tsp baking powder
- 175 g flour
- ¼ tsp salt (such as finely ground Real Salt)
- 100 g Turtle Marshmallow Crunchies

Method
- Heat the oven to 150°C. Mix both sugars with the butter, then add the egg, vanilla sugar, baking powder and salt.
- Gradually mix in the flour. Reserve 2 tbsp of cereal for the topping; roughly chop the rest and fold into the dough.
- Shape into balls on a lined baking tray, leaving space between them. Flatten slightly and add the reserved cereal.
- Bake for 13–16 minutes, watching for the edges to colour, then remove and leave to cool.
With milk, yoghurt or porridge
Add just before eating to enjoy the crunch. Milk or a plant-based drink gradually softens both the cereal and marshmallows. For a coconut flavour, try Ceylon Kokonati coconut milk, diluted to taste, or make up a drink with Ceylon Kokonati coconut milk powder. With yoghurt, scatter the cereal over the top rather than stirring it through in advance.
- Over plain porridge: make a bowl with Turtle gluten-free rolled oats, then add a small handful of cereal after cooking for a crisp texture and vanilla sweetness.
- With plain yoghurt: add fresh fruit or a little Ceylon Kokonati desiccated coconut; the cereal already supplies sweetness.
- On ice cream: sprinkle over the finished dessert so the pieces stay crunchy.
- In homemade cookies: fold some into the dough and reserve the rest for the top, following the recipe above.
For a gluten-free breakfast, choose gluten-free oats or oat drinks too.
The ingredients and what they do
Wholegrain gluten-free oat flourThe oat base includes the grain’s bran and germ. Gluten-free oats are used, but the cereal contains oats and is not suitable for anyone with an oat allergy.
Rice flourUsed alongside the oat flour in the crunchy cereal. The corn starch appears in the marshmallows, rather than forming the main grain base.
Cane sugar and glucose syrupCane sugar sweetens both the cereal and the marshmallows; glucose syrup is used in the marshmallows. Natural vanilla flavouring rounds out the sweet flavour.
Crunchy marshmallowsThese make up 20% of the mix and contain bovine gelatine, corn starch and natural vanilla flavouring. They are small and crunchy, unlike soft confectionery marshmallows. For homemade jellies and desserts, we also stock Planet Paleo bovine gelatine.
Spirulina, apple, carrot and radishExtracts from these ingredients colour the marshmallows. Natural vanilla flavouring supplies the vanilla note.
Sea salt and tocopherolsSea salt adds flavour to the cereal. Tocopherol-rich extract acts as an antioxidant to help protect the food against oxidation.
Organic and gluten-free: what the labels tell you
Organic certification concerns how ingredients are grown and processed. Organic farming restricts inputs, does not permit herbicides and allows only approved substances for plant protection. That is why we value the certified origin of the grains over a general “natural” description on the pack.
Gluten-free status is checked separately. Turtle regularly tests its gluten-free products for gluten levels below 20 mg/kg. Marshmallow Crunchies contain gluten-free oats, so they are not suitable for anyone with an oat allergy.
More about organic ingredients and gluten testing
Organic certification verifies a controlled production system with rules for growing, permitted inputs and processing. Organic ingredients are identified by an asterisk in the ingredients list.
Oats can come into contact with wheat, barley or rye during growing, storage or processing. Marshmallow Crunchies use gluten-free oat flour, and Turtle regularly tests its gluten-free range for gluten levels below 20 mg/kg. When choosing other cereals, check the gluten-free labelling of the individual recipe.

The people behind Turtle and its journey to you
Laurence and Thilo: breakfast, inspired by family life
- Laurence is Belgian and grew up in Spain and Denmark; Thilo is German. They met in Belgium, where they later founded Turtle. Their different experiences of food helped shape a business devoted to breakfast.
- Porridge came first, with more recipes following over time. Organic ingredients remained central to both the plain grain staples and the more playful cereals. The name Turtle comes from the fable of the tortoise and the hare.
- A family project has grown into a team developing a wider choice of breakfasts. The first porridge went on sale in 2015, granolas followed in 2020 and a new cereal range arrived in 2021. Laurence and Thilo continue to work on the business together.
Pravé Bio: from meeting in Malmö to direct distribution
- We met Laurence and Thilo at a trade fair in Malmö. Their ambition to make familiar cereals with organic ingredients appealed to us. They consider the whole recipe, from the grains to the ingredients that provide flavour and colour.
- We value Turtle’s certified organic ingredients, plant extracts for colouring the marshmallows and a choice of recipes without added sugar. At Pravé Bio, you buy directly from Turtle’s importer and distributor for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Marshmallow Crunchies: your questions answered
Is this a cereal or a bag of marshmallows?
It is a ready-to-eat cereal made with wholegrain gluten-free oat flour and rice flour, with 20% marshmallows. You get the complete cereal mix, rather than a bag of confectionery marshmallows. The marshmallow pieces are small and crunchy.

What are the marshmallows in this cereal made of?
Marshmallows make up 20% of the mix. They contain glucose syrup, cane sugar, bovine gelatine, corn starch, spirulina, apple, carrot and radish extracts, and natural vanilla flavouring. Because they contain gelatine, they are not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.

How can they be gluten-free if they contain oats?
The recipe uses wholegrain oat flour labelled gluten-free. Turtle regularly tests its gluten-free products for gluten levels below 20 mg/kg. Gluten-free does not mean oat-free.

Are they vegan or vegetarian?
No: the marshmallows contain bovine gelatine. Marshmallow Crunchies are therefore unsuitable for vegan or vegetarian diets.

What colours the marshmallows?
Spirulina, apple, carrot and radish extracts provide the colours. Natural vanilla flavouring adds the vanilla note. The recipe contains no palm oil.

Are they sugar-free or made without added sugar?
No. They contain cane sugar and glucose syrup, with 24 g of sugars per 100 g.

Which allergens should I check?
The cereal contains oats and may contain traces of peanuts, soya, milk and tree nuts. If you are buying for someone with an allergy, check the information on the individual pack too.

Which milk works best with this cereal?
Use milk or an unsweetened plant-based drink. The cereal is already sweet, so there is no need to add sugar. Pour over just before eating to retain the crunch.

What pack size is available?
The cereal is available in a 300 g box. Reseal after opening and store in a dry place.

Can I bake with Marshmallow Crunchies?
Yes — try the cookies in the recipe above. The cereal is gluten-free, but that recipe uses ordinary flour. For gluten-free cookies, use a suitable gluten-free flour and check the other ingredients as well.

Are the marshmallows crunchy or soft?
They are small and crunchy. Their texture differs from soft confectionery marshmallows. Milk or yoghurt gradually softens them, so add the cereal just before eating if you prefer a crisp bite.

Do they contain pork gelatine, and are the marshmallows halal?
Turtle specifies bovine gelatine, rather than pork gelatine, and confirms that the marshmallows are halal certified. The manufacturer’s statement applies to the marshmallows; it does not establish certification of the complete cereal mix.

Are they similar to Lucky Charms?
Both combine cereal with small, crunchy marshmallows. Turtle has its own organic recipe using wholegrain gluten-free oat flour and rice flour, with marshmallow colours from spirulina, apple, carrot and radish. They are different products with different ingredients.

How can I keep them crunchy after opening?
Keep them dry and tightly sealed, or transfer them to an airtight container. Use a dry spoon and add milk or yoghurt just before serving. Moisture softens the crunchy texture.

Who is behind the Turtle brand
Behind the Turtle brand is a team of health food enthusiasts who believe that breakfast should not only be tasty, but also nutritious and made with respect for nature. Inspired by the simplicity and quality of traditional recipes, the brand founders decided to create a range of cereal products that combine pure organic ingredients, great taste and sustainability.
The aim was to offer an alternative to conventional breakfast products, which often contain unnecessary additives, refined sugar and artificial flavourings.
Turtle is based on the philosophy of "slow food", i.e . conscious eating with an emphasis on the quality of ingredients and their natural processing. The brand name symbolizes patience, honesty and consideration - values that are reflected not only in the products themselves, but also in the entire approach to production and business. As a result, Turtle has earned the trust of customers across Europe and is constantly expanding its range with new, innovative products that make breakfast a real treat.
Turtle brand vision
Turtle' s vision is clear - to deliver breakfasts that are not only delicious, but also healthy, nutritious and made with the planet in mind. They want to inspire people to better eating habits by offering products without unnecessary additives, refined sugar and chemicals.
Every step of production, from the careful selection of raw materials to eco-friendly packaging, reflects their commitment to sustainability and quality. At the same time, they emphasize an ethical approach to production and fair cooperation with suppliers who share their values.
Their goal is not only to produce quality products, but also to contribute to a positive change in the way people think about food and its impact on the world.

What inspires the founders
Turtle is a brand that embodies everything that goes into a great breakfast - simple, clean and delicious products. Their team focuses on creating innovative recipes and improving traditional breakfast dishes to make them healthier and more nutritious.
They were the first to market porridges, which gradually created a whole new segment in some European countries. They enrich classic recipes with modern elements and look for new ways to combine ingredients and discover new flavours.
Each Turtle product is designed with versatility in mind, but always with carefully selected organic ingredients that guarantee high quality, healthful ingredients and great taste.
How did this story begin?
The founders were looking for organic, no-sugar-added breakfast cereals - and couldn't find them. It was only pregnancy and the birth of our child that made us think even more deeply about what we actually eat and what we want to offer our family. At the time, both Thilo and Laurence were busy with work, but maternity leave proved to be just the right moment to launch Turtle - a brand that brings better breakfast alternatives to those looking for clean ingredients and real taste.
The name Turtle was chosen after the well-known story of the tortoise and the hare. While the hare pushes forward and tires quickly, the tortoise goes slowly but steadily - and eventually wins. It works the same way with the energy from whole grain oats, which is released gradually and gives the body a steady strength for the whole day.
Today, they are grateful to be able to share their love of breakfast with hundreds of thousands of you each month. They're always looking for new ways to bring you even better products and inspiration for breakfasts you'll love. Because a good day starts with a great breakfast - and they always want yours to be special.
Why does Turtle rely on organic farming?
All Turtle products come from organic farming, which is better for nature and human health. Unlike conventional production, it minimises the use of chemicals, promotes natural soil fertility and protects groundwater. As a result, bees can continue to pollinate, the landscape remains diverse and consumers can enjoy a breakfast free of unwanted toxins and pesticides.
Why Turtle chooses organic farming
- It preserves soil fertility for future generations.
- It protects the purity of drinking water.
- Reduces the amount of pesticides and toxic substances in food.
- It promotes biodiversity and contributes to the sustainability of the planet.
- It does not contain any genetically modified (GM) ingredients.
From the very beginning, Turtle has held the BE-BIO-001 organic certification, confirming its commitment to sustainability and the highest quality.

Fair production and healthy food

Fair Production: a responsibility that makes sense
Turtle is committed to sourcing ingredients in a fair and reasonable manner because it believes that quality products start with honest supplier relationships.
Proximity
- They buy raw materials from farms close to their production facilities, which allows for a long-term and stable cooperation between farmers and producers.
- This approach promotes not only the freshness of raw materials but also the sustainability of local communities.
Fair access
- Every raw material is purchased in accordance with the high social standards set by organizations such as BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative), SA8000 (Social Accountability) and ILO (International Labour Organization).
All of Turtle' s suppliers are members of Sedex, which ensures fair living and working conditions for all those involved in growing cocoa, sugar cane and other ingredients that brands cannot grow directly in their area.
Healthy and nutritious food: start the day with energy that lasts
Breakfast should provide not only immediate energy, but also a long-lasting feeling of satiety and vitality. The right combination of macronutrients is the key to giving your brain and body everything they need to function optimally.
Reach for breakfast foods that contain a balance of carbohydrates, protein, healthy fats and fibre. Carbohydrates give you quick energy, while protein gives you a steady source of energy throughout the day.
Taste is the foundation of food enjoyment
This enjoyment has a positive effect on our health. It is scientifically proven that enjoying food supports digestion, improves the relationship with food and can help overcome problems such as eating disorders.
Therefore, it is not only important what you eat, but also how you eat it.

Sustainable packaging: Protecting freshness and being responsible for the planet
Turtle' s goal is to use packaging that preserves the freshness and taste of their products while minimizing the negative impact on the environment.
The cardboard boxes are made from 80% recycled fibres, and the outer packaging for transport is completely recyclable.
While plastic is not ideal, it is essential for preserving freshness and protecting against moisture, greatly reducing food waste. This plastic is recyclable, which means that by reusing it, the amount of new plastic can be reduced.
They use eco-friendly bubbles made from degradable vegetable starch to ship orders.
