Coriolus is a species of fungus that grows on dead tree trunks all over the world. It is called a turkey tail because its colourful rings resemble the feathers on a turkey's tail.

The scientific name is Trametes versicolor or Coriolus versicolor. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is known as Yun Zhi. In Japan, it is known as kawaratake (roof tile mushroom). There are many other species of fungi in the genus Trametes and it can be difficult to distinguish true coriolus from other species of fungi in the genus Trametes without special tests.

Coriolus has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for many years to treat lung diseases. A complementary mushroom that is given with Coriolus for regeneration of the respiratory tract, mucous membranes, etc. is Cordyceps. From the Chinese point of view, the disease cancer is only an imbalance of the organism.
