What is selenium and why do we need to supplement it?

The essential trace element selenium is often greatly underestimated because as humans we take in selenium through food. The human body retains 13 to 30 mg of selenium. Most of it is stored in the muscles and thyroid gland^[1].

The best sources of selenium from food include steamed nuts, white beans, tuna, eggs, coconut pulp (you can find the grated or flaked version in organic quality directly from the producer in Ceylon, packed at the source, there is no contamination and no raw material contamination) and Brussels sprouts.
