Reishi (Ganoderma) – immunomodulation (β-glucans)
In healthy volunteers, an immunomodulatory effect of reishi β-glucan has been observed; real-world impact varies by dose and extraction. In practice, standardized hot-water/dual extracts are used.
Here you’ll find single-species extracts (reishi, lion’s mane, cordyceps, maitake, shiitake, chaga, coriolus) as well as thoughtful blends and drinks (coffee & lattes). With mushrooms, the most discussed areas are immunomodulation via β-glucans, support for cognition (lion’s mane), and endurance (cordyceps). Effects depend on species, extraction, and dose—we keep expectations realistic.

Mushrooms contain a complex of β-glucans and other bioactive compounds that may modulate immune responses—however, effects depend on species, glucan structure, and the extraction method used (hot-water/dual extraction).

A small RCT in people with MCI (2009) showed improved cognitive scores vs. placebo; newer data are mixed and often short-term, so we treat the effects as preliminary.
In RCTs with recreational runners, 8–12 weeks of cordyceps supplementation improved some aerobic markers and reduced heart rate during exercise; results depend on species/extract and dose.
Tremella polysaccharides (TFPS) have improved skin hydration and barrier function in preclinical and small studies; as a “natural alternative” to hyaluronic acid, they’re also being explored in cosmetic formulations.
Reviews describe mainly immune and metabolic pathways for these mushrooms (β-glucans; for maitake, also metabolic parameters). Always check extract standardization and purity.
Functional mushrooms are food supplements—they do not replace a varied diet or treatment. Always follow the label (dosage, storage).
β-glucans can modulate immune responses (not “stimulate at all costs”). Effects depend on glucan structure and source (mushroom species, extraction).

There’s a small RCT (2009) in MCI showing improved cognition vs. placebo; newer research is mixed and often short-term. Treat lion’s mane as promising, not “miraculous.”

Some RCTs in runners show improved aerobic markers after 8–12 weeks of supplementation; outcomes depend on dose and extract type.

Tremella polysaccharides have been linked to better hydration and skin-barrier function (preclinical and small studies); in cosmetics they’re explored as a “natural alternative” to hyaluronic acid.

They’re functional formats—combining an extract (e.g., reishi/lion’s mane/cordyceps) with coffee or matcha. Choose “drink: coffee & lattes” if you want an easy daily routine; mind the caffeine and total extract dose. (Extract standardization/purity is key.)
